Yeah I kind of got that impression too when I listened to it, it's not her typical lead single, and even down to her style and the way she's dressing right now which has always been a big part of who she is as an artist seems to be much more 'normal' and relaxed... and natural. And people are saying the vocals sound odd but they only sound different because they're untreated, and again, natural (unlike most of her peers). So it seems much more like she's just doing something that she wants to do, rather than try and do something that'll please everyone's expectations (which is what she's probably had to do her whole career so far).

tfw gaga's best song Bad Romance has 83 unique words and Perfect Illusion has 92 unique words but PI is the one people are calling repetitive, calling it repetitive is a bad excuse

It's more repetitive in the fact that the chorus and verses sound the exact same and the song doesn't go anywhere

Bad romance had like 3 separate semi chorus and 2 bridges
