Like I said though I'm not saying he doesn't have an impressive career, he does, as a character actor both on TV and in movies. Skilled character actors are, obviously, essential to making good film and television... it's not playing down his achievements to point out that while he is very good at what he does, and has had a very successful career doing what he does, it doesn't automatically make him an instantly recognisable "star". In fact, it's really important to have these great actors who can play those roles and NOT stand out, in order to maintain believability whilst not drawing attention away from the main focus characters.
I mean, on the flipside, there are TONNES of "Hollywood Stars" who are
horribly bad actors and are there either for looks, or because of a "lucky break", or because despite not having great acting abilities they have charisma and screen presence.
