Default How to stop tooth pain?

I had my tooth removed earlier at the dentist, because it wasn't necessary and the root was quite big it's really painful now the anaesthetic has worn off. So painful that I've been crying for the last twenty minutes or so. Does anyone k ow how I can solve this problem?

Oh bless you! Nothing worse than tooth pain I'm waiting for one out as we speak!

Ibuprofen and a hot water bottle on your face always does it for me but if it carries on being really bad I'd ring them just to be on the safe side.

No she said just to take over-the-counter painkillers I could do with some stronger ones

Oh good luck Jonni!

And I will ring them if it gets any worse or these ibuprofen continue not to work, I'll try the hot water bottle trick later! Never heard of that one before.

Salt and warm water swoosh it round a few times spit and repeat, it really will help, dentists usually advise this after tooth extraction to prevent infection

This! Not too much or too vigorously though, go gentle because if the 'clot' in the hole where the tooth comes out and an infection gets in you can get "Dry Socket" and from what I've heard that really is agony and a dental emergency.

Thank you only problem is the dentist did explain something about salt water to me but I was too dazed from the anaesthetic to really take into account what she was actually saying. My mum's going to ring tomorrow and find out what she said and when I should've taken it.

OMG I feared I'd accidentally knocked the clot out before with a tissue but my mum just looked and it turned out I hadn't. I'd honestly break down if I got a Dry Socket.

Ibuprofen isn't very strong - maybe a visit to the walk-in centre to get a stronger tablet from that group of medications such as Naproxen or a codeine based analgesic such as Co-coda mol, although these can make you feel sick. They do work much better though.

My sympathies. I had an awful toothache a few months ago, one of the most agonising pains ever tbh.

[2] @ Clove oil. Just dip a cotton bud into it and rub it around the tooth and it will relieve the pain within a few minutes.
