Even at it's worst (Hello Season 5) Game of Thrones was still better than TWD in it's prime.

I have to disagree about S5 Got being better than... Anything. I found it really hard going, it nearly ruined the entire experience for me if I'm honest, mainly just because of how badly it fit with the rest of the show. It was (and I believe they admit) treading water for a season and I think it's off-puttingly obvious... It's like they said to the actors "Hey guys... We don't actually have any story content for this season... We've mostly caught up with the books and we haven't decided yet whether or not we're going to forge on ahead of them... But we can't go off air for a year so basically everyone just come on in anyway and we'll do some in-character improv".
Each episode was making me lose a little more hope. To be honest I feel like the first half of S6 suffered too. Thankfully I am now faithful again as the second half was excellent, and it seems like they have a very clear and focused road map for finishing the series now.
What it does sadly mean for the legacy of the show is that there's a "blip" in the quality of what could otherwise have been a more or less perfect TV series.
