It's certainly a valid argument but it shouldn't be specific to this family, everyone who has kids gets it whether they need it or not

I don't think people get child benefit anymore if one of them earns over 50k per year. So not sure if this family would qualify either actually? (Edit. Didn't read TS post before posting this)
