Because let's face it, if it was meant literally it makes zero sense. "Everyone who owns a cat is ______" makes no sense.

Because maybe some people have different reasons why they use it like Hayden said with the OTT hate comments on facebook. i don't use it for an insult because it doesn't seem offensive to me and there's nothing wrong with cat ladies at all. they could be called a lot worst. but appearance attacks and slut shaming are a lot worse on here.
