Whether they predicted loons would twist their message is neither here nor there really. Admitting "yeah, actually we thought someone might take it out of context and make it racist" wouldn't achieve much IMO.
So we go on with companies pretending to be surprised by things they aren't surprised by, and we pretend to believe that they are surprised, and then we pretend to be surprised when it turns out they weren't surprised at all, even though no one is surprised in the slightest by any of it.
