EXACTLY! Maybe because men gave us such a hard time for so many years some men are now worried that we're going to do the same to them. But we're so much nicer than that and we're looking for equality not superiority. And let's face it, for every woman who wrongly claims that men are inferior to women, there will be a man who still thinks it's okay to say "Show us yer tits, darlin'!"

I want to know why Emma felt the need to wear a pink coat! Will she wear a blue one on Friday night for the arrival of the males, very bizarre

I haven't watched the launch, it will all be rehashed tonight in the hls so will watch it then, just flicked over for the last 15 minutes, I didn't think it was necessary to have an all female audience either, that's not equality, thats pandering!!

Exactly, the attitude that it is kinda embodies the stereotypical attitude that men believe everything revolves around them and if it doesn't they'll see it as an attack on themselves.

'Oh? The theme is about female empowerment and celebrating the anniversary of the right to vote? But what about meeeeeeeee!?'

The coat itself was fine, did she wear pink because of its association with females, it felt like it

I just don't see the issue, getting the vote was a major historical thing for women and society in general and should be celebrated, i don't know why some people are trying to make it about something it isn't

This. I do think some people are kind of missing the point with all of this. It's not about saying women are superior, it's celebrating something specific that happened in our history (which only needed to happen in the first place because men were seen as superior). If you want to be angry at any part of this be angry about that being our history. The women who fought to change things deserve to be remembered and celebrated, even if it is by way of a crass reality TV show

Exactly.

That's not the approach of equality, it's just another version of gender supremacy but flipped on its head.

Like saying:

'We believe men have had all the power and that's wrong - so now we are going to show how wrong that is - by doing the exact same thing in reverse!'

It's pretty basic and silly. And of course pretty hypocritical.

If you think the idea of one gender holding all the cards is so bad - why do the exact same thing then?

Empty gestures really. It makes out like someting serious is happening but really it's just another BB 'theme'

Is Big Brother just perpetuating division?

Debate
I liked launch night. I know the girl thing has been done before but I think there is a very diverse mix of women in there so will see how it pans out

I think this theme would have been great in 1988 but in 2017 with a woman PM

way to be relevant BB

(and calling rooms after suffragettes ... wow, dats edgy...)

i'm not sure if this is a joke but i'm guessing you're aware who the PM was in '88

Not when it's done in remembrance of something so specific and momentous as women being able to vote though

It's because it's the 100 year anniversary of women getting the vote though, that's a big mile stone, it's a celebration of how far women have come but alot of people on here are trying to make it about something else altogether

Should be celebrating the men who gave them it as well then...they are the real heroes here.
