I didn't really get why Emma laboured the point that Ann lives alone, she seemed to be intimating that there was something wrong with that and that Ann must be lonely which I thought was a bit odd, I doubt she would have laboured that point with any other older housemate, a lot of people both male and female will find themselves on their own at Ann's age either through divorce, losing a partner or just because they were never interested in having a partner in the first place, I thought it was okay to be asexual or to choose how you live these days

Yes, Courtney has said many times that he cannot keep relationships going, so he isn't exactly leading a fulfilled life either. Emma didn't ask him about that.
