I find it shocking how many people are willing to overlook this incident, just because it's ant from Ant and Dec. People are even wondering if Saturday night takeaway will still be on this week... I love their shows but I view this as I would to anyone else who had driven under the influence which possibly could have killed people and has injured people, the guy is an ill man yes, but he still needs to face the consequences of his actions. What he did was reckless and would be completely unforgivable if he had killed somebody even then I honestly think people out there would still be saying aww poor man we forgive him. People have a distorted view of the situation because of who he is and how popular the shows are. But remember if this had been a member of the public or even a celebrity who you don't like even with mental health and addiction problems you would still want justice to be done not them to be able to say sorry and then have them back on to prime time family tv on a Saturday night. I do think his career is now over

Sadly though we won't find out who actually is responsible for stealing the celebs in Saturday knight takeaway

I get what you're saying, I don't think it's that people want to downplay what happened though, it's just that naturally people are also going to wonder about his career since he's in the public eye, rather than saying that because he's in the public eye what happened is ok. Part of this story is that he's Ant from Ant and Dec so there's going to be a curiosity about what might happen with that, as well as the actual incident itself.

I don't think anyone thinks he should get away with what he has done, if he is found guilty of drink driving or reckless driving he should get the punishment that any joe bloggs would get. He made a huge, downright foolish mistake and he will probably lose his career over it as well as the punishment served for the crime he committed. I wouldn't think he will get away with it because of who he is. I just think some people, myself included try to empathise because of the issues he has like addiction to alcohol and whatever else he has, some people still feel human compassion. We are hearing about this because of who he is , he is in the public eye and in the past he has won over the hearts of a lot of people and it's hard for people who loved him to see his decline. I sincerely hope he can beat his demons. He did the crime, he will be paying for the crime already before even any sentence I am sure.

I wouldn't say he is a drunk driver, I never want to see him on my TV screen again. Maybe that's just me. If he goes to court and gets a conviction why does that have to affect his work. I could see it being an issue if he needed his car for work, but he doesn't. Plenty other entertainers have been caught speeding, drunk driving etc, and it has never affected their careers

He will probably be given a driving ban, and if not then he should seriously consider not driving again until he sorts his problem out.
I don’t see why he should be sacked either, as you say, I don’t understand why it would/should ruin his career.

He's an addict who's been arrested for drink driving, he is the definition of a drunk driver.

At this point it's up to him whether his career ends or not.

If he’s not a drunk driver, then what is he?

This makes sense in the context in which you meant it, what you said didn't.

I don’t think he got her fired - I’m sure producers decided it was best for her to go due to circumstances. She posted on episode 1 on social media to say how proud she was of the show and everyone behind it.

I agree what a complete git getting his wife sacked - i get it he's the 'star' and he can do as he pleases , unlike all us nobodies ! he needs to have a massive reality check in my opinion. It won't happen though .

They were together for 20 odd years, so life couldnt have been that bad for each of them, and she is going to walk away with 20-30 million in divorce settlement, so it's not like she will be struggling. It may well have been part of the separation agreement that she left her job

I cant find that out.
All reports just say she was given the boot because producers thought it would be 2 awkward for him if she was on set......30 million..plus i would take my itv bosses to court for forcing me out the door...no wonder women are in uproar about innequality..it reeks of it in this case...

But..
Poor ant

Lol what Bots is saying is even though he is a drink driver he would not say he doesnt want to see him on tv again.

Plus at the moment he hasn't been charged so could possibly have blown below the legal limit at the station. The roadside tests are not as accurate so they can't charge on that reading. It may be it was shown as a positive test at the roadside but when they measure the alcohol to breath ratio it may have been below. So at the moment he is a suspected drink driver but as I said before I've never known anyone who has blown a positive test at the station be released while the investigate. Its normally a straight charge and a court date. I would imagine they are investigating his culpability for the accident.

They released him at 3am. I hope if he has blown positive that his celebrity status doesn't get him any preferential treatment.

I don't feel sorry for him at all. Drink drivers should all go to prison and forced to go and pass a course where they see how utterly devastating their selfish actions can be on others and their families.

He's an arrogant, selfish dickhead.

Here, here Amy - no-one is above the law and the world does not revolve around him. He could easily have killed someone including that young child. Shame on him.
