People have a distorted view of the situation because of who he is and how popular the shows are. But remember if this had been a member of the public or even a celebrity who you don't like even with mental health and addiction problems you would still want justice to be done not them to be able to say sorry and then have them back on to prime time family tv on a Saturday night. I do think his career is now over

I get what you're saying, I don't think it's that people want to downplay what happened though, it's just that naturally people are also going to wonder about his career since he's in the public eye, rather than saying that because he's in the public eye what happened is ok. Part of this story is that he's Ant from Ant and Dec so there's going to be a curiosity about what might happen with that, as well as the actual incident itself.
