The conversation they had this afternoon, when JJ pointed out that Dave is brainwashing his daughter worries me even more now, knowing he is in denial of the evolution

It amazes me how so many people believe in the Gnostic creation myth called 'evolutionism' and especially in the 21st century in light of so much overwhelming scientific enlightenment,
but,
It does show the astonishing power of BBC evolutionist propaganda and what happens when school children are raised with no other options,
but having said that:
Even though more and more people are rejecting the 'theory of evolution' and many surveys showing 'Creationism' on the rise in the UK, Poland, USA etc,
still,
even still I don't think anyone ought to 'shout down' those who still believe that there was some sort of great grandmother bowl of inorganic soup that mated with a shaft of lightning which turned into hawks, worms, grass, T-Rex, giraffes etc.
It is quite common.
yes, of course belief in this evolution myth led to slavery, racism, mass murder etc,
but,
that is not what the average believer agrees to anymore.
David should just be cool and thankful he knows better.

He was such a bellend when he was like 'Shush, No Shush' to JJ when he said about evolution.

Who the ****** does he think he is?

I for one agree with JJ.
Evolution is far more true than ******ing God and Adam and Eve.

Reminds me that Dave today also said he truly believes in Mary being a virgin being pregnant.

Josie was arguing with him about that topic as well

She could have been. Heavy petting can result in sperm release without ejaculation. Sperm can be transferred from outside the body to inside a females body and fertilise an ovum. Unlikely as ******* but possible.

That was when he said he believes in the virgin Mary myth, but wouldnt trust his daughter if she claimed it?

He will argue for the supernatural when it comes to werewolves and flying and all other things of the supernatural, and call others close minded for not agreeing with him, but he definitely would not believe his daughter if she said her pregnancy was immaculate...

Quite a double standard.

Evolution makes far more sense to me than a man in the sky making us. But i'd be happy to listen to Dave try to explain why he believes that. In fact he expects people to listen to his views, but he doesn't listen to other views himself.

i find far more flaws in creationism than evolution.

St. Dave believes what is written in his book of fairy stories created by people even more ignorant and intolerant than he is.

Not really what?

I was just stating what I personally have found to be the case.

I know Christians - who tend to be quite self-contained generally, they believe what they believe but are quite happy to let other people have their opinions.

I also know Agnostics and Atheists, many of whom are incredibly aggressive- produce reams and reams of (often conflicting) scientific theories printed off the internet to prove why they are right to contend that religion is rubbish and simply will never let the matter go.

I heard Ricky Gervais and the Archbishop of Canterbury (a strange mix) on the radio a while ago. Ricky Gervais attacked Rowan Williams incessantly and aggressively - shouting things like "Go on then convince me" and Go on then - prove that God exists" and he got more and more annoyed as the Archbishop just smiled and said "Look, you believe what you want - it's fine, you're entitled to that opinion".

ps. Oh, and we should respect religions. We should respect everyone's opinion.

If you bother to read my posts, I have been quite clear that I respect Dave's right to hold his views but my point is that I wish he would be open at least to others debating the subject. It's not even about him disagreeing with others on the subject - he won't even allow them to discuss it in his presence!

But everyone seems to miss the point that "Dave" was being humorous and not dogmatic unlike most posters here

Evolution vs creationism is an old favourite of mine to ponder.

NOTHING in science rules out an ultimate creator, per se.

Also, M-Theory and its hypothesis of 11 dimensions actually gets past the necessity for there to have to be a beginning of the dimension we know as time.

I don't believe evolution and creationism are mutually exclusive; there are as many holes in the science as there are in the religious explanation, and I tend to think that far FROM being exclusive, the two actually complement each other a lot better than they stand as separate theories.

"there are as many holes in the science as there are in the religious explanation"

Even if that were true and it is not, the difference is that one is open to debate and improvement by one and all and the other shut its doors to any debate 2000 years ago

get real ffs
