I find it objectionable that I am being 'told off', how to behave or I cant talk about something on an internet forum by someone who in all probability is half my age.

Thats generally the reason I get banned from forums and why I've been banned 6 times from DS (twice permanently)

No. Niamh first point in her post was that she was sure the comment was directed at her. If she felt that way she should have PM'd the forum member and kept that kind of comment it off the forum. Just my own personal view.

Also, I dont see what the problem is with this, since this thread was sort of designed for this kind of thing. As long as insults are not thrown...from either side, there shouldn't be a problem.

Which is the same rule as in other threads...notice in serious debates, people argue all the time, but because they put their point across well, (usually) not resorting to petty name calling and that, the threads are fine. There are also a few threads in the BB sections that are full of 'arguing'...though I personally call intelligent arguing debating...that have not been deleted.

As long as it stays on topic, and no rules are broken, its perfectly fine

Post used to be deleted but the discussion continued. That doesn't happen much these days. The threads are closed with little explanation leaving us infuriated.

Threads get closed because they'll only cause trouble or if they aim to continue a previous argument or drama but mainly if we think they are troll threads or just plain offensive. At the end of the day we're a lot more laid back then your average forum, a lot of regular people here would be permabanned from other forums by now.

I don't close threads often myself, I usually dole out the infractions and forget to clean up the thread afterwards.

People cant 'debate' on here though without resorting to insults and name calling. And reporting each other when someone disagrees with them.

You could just say, the most recent infraction I got, if you honestly cant think of any reason why you got it. Because we can look on your profile and see every infraction and the reasons for them

I've said this so often in the past few days but if you want to contest a punishment or infraction then PM me or another mod, If I was behind it we'll talk it through and if I wasn't I'll look over the infraction and IF I think It's a bit rash or hasty or maybe not even harsh enough I'll say so to the mod (which I do anyway and I encourage other mods to do the same to me).

Most of the time we all get it right and sometimes you just got to accept it as causing drama on the forums will only get you in more trouble.

In summary, as long as you are civil feel free to PM me anytime and I'll look into it although 99% of the time I'll agree with the mods.
