Renowned filmmaker Shane Meadows follows up the explosive award-winning This Is England '86 with three new one-hour films.

Meadows picks up the action in the Christmas of 1988 as Lol struggles to cope with life as a single mother. Haunted by the devastating events that took place 18 months previously, she finds her reserves of strength ebbing away. With her soul mate Woody heartbroken from her betrayal and in self imposed exile from the gang, Lol also becomes increasingly isolated and alone.

They say Christmas is a time for forgiving and for forgetting, a time of love and laughter and joy ever after. But when all hope seems lost, what peace is there to be found? This is Christmas. This is England.

You have now shot This is England '88. What kind of world does the gang inhabit after another two years?

I'm absolutely sworn to secrecy. All I can say is it's set in Christmas and it's going to be an exciting show.

How long do you think the series can keep going?

I don't think it will become a regular thing. If anything, the last one will probably be 1990. We'll have to watch this space.

7-28 September Wikipedia tells me, it does feel a lot longer, thought they might delay this show till next Xmas so that it's 2 years later in r/l

I think with it being near Xmas it'll only be a few months off R/L so it wont make too much of a difference.
