I think the next reality show to start is The Voice in March which I think could be pretty popular and then Britain's Got Talent is back in April. I expect the forums will get busier with them two shows on. Will be interesting to see which show gets the bigger ratings because I think they clash at some point.

Both of those shows you have mentioned make me want to shoot myself. I'm so bored of 'talent' shows now.

I am too, won't be watching BGT, totally bored of it now. Might give The Voice a chance since it's fresh to the UK but I'd love it if both of Cowell's shows were axed this year. Way past their sell by date and the public are getting tired of them, only have to look at last year's ratings for XF and BGT to work that one out.

I don't think anybody really looks forward to XF anymore. People only watch because theirs nothing else on.

After last years XF I doubt I will watch it again. It was completely abysmal

Back on topic :P I love off season, it's too hectic when BB is on. Doesn't Award Season start back up in a couple months?

We need more forum events or something. I don't know what really, most loved is obviously good and controversy probably won't ever happen. I have no idea what other things we could do as a forum, to get it buzzing. Last year around now (not that I was here but I have read tons of old threads from early 2011) it was sorta the same. Well to me it seemed just some weird C&G threads. It picked up loads in April but only because of the announcement of BB returning. This year it won't.

If the forum needs competitions that are run for only the purpose to discuss fms (either in good light or bad light) to keep it alive and kicking - that tells you there is something far wrong with the forum.

It means that there aren't enough posters, discussing enough topics for any length of time before threads get shut down, it means that there is something lacking in the input from the fms, whether by quanity of members or quality of posts, selection of topics and the type of posts that are allowed (or not) as the case may be.

As far as BB and CBB is concerned, this forum does do incredibly well and I mean everyone that gets themselves involved (mods included btw) - but off season: it's a real uphill struggle.

I've lost count of times I've raised threads, with good intent, with good purpose, with a bit of fun to them and they have been completely and utterly ruined because posters are less interested in a good thread starting up , and more interesting in insulting and mocking me - rather than the thread. That's not a dig at anyone - that is very much what happens on here with many others too. I'm not sure why there is any real surprise that people move on.

Not having a go here but you bring up this quite personalised reason in virtually every thread like this and honestly I don't think that is why the forum is so quiet. This is an argument I base on the simple idea that there were more arguments years ago than there were now. There was just more of plenty of other stuff too. The forum felt like a big, flowing forum and Big Brother was still a massive TV event. Forums themselves were much more popular too. This was when social networking was in it's infancy and Twitter didn't exist.

The forum is quiet now in my opinion because it is not as vital as it once was as a medium to discuss Big Brother and Big Brother itself scores much lower than it once did. It's logical then that the place would see so much less traffic. The old guard have been falling away for about two years now and they are not being replaced in significant quality or quantity. The forum is just a different animal now and this is in all likelyhood as big as it will ever be.

If it were arguments that put people off why did the forum draw such a bigger audience in 2007 and 2008 when virtually every night of the week something would happen? Proxies, smash and grab trolling, meltdowns and humiliations would go on every evening. That happens a lot less now. Arguments are sporadic, limited to a few people and are shut down straight away.

Is it the general decline of forums and massive stock fall of the forums main subject or is it because some people don't like your threads? I know where I'm hedging my bets. Your welcome to disagree obviously. I'm not in the mood for a circular argument on why TiBB sucks now.

I chose to make 'me' as example of what happens. I could have used a recent example of another poster - but I'd have thought that that was too much like a dig.

Who said anything about the word 'argument' Stu? I didn't but you have mentioned the word at least 4 times in your post above.

I'm talking about the type of posts / quality of posts / and to a certain degree - a type of 'some' fms that post such things.

Yay pointless semantics.

Arguments, people having a pop at you, whatever. You know what I'm talking about. The unresponded to points still stand.

All that kind of stuff was worse before from where I sit.

It's certainly not pointless semantics from where I am sitting.

I've raised points that are valid. I don't expect you to agree with them.

Of course they are valid. I just think they are wrong, that's all. All that stuff you mentioned was far worse years ago and yet the userbase was much higher. It's a far more logical approach in my opinion to chalk the decline of the forum down to the massive decline of forums in general and the massive decline also of the forums primary subject matter.

I was not here 'years' ago........ I'll comment on my own experience as that is what I have to factually base my opinions on - not that they are wrong btw - your opinion is not necessarily right because you disagree with mine.

The thread here is asking about the forum being dead off season: I am giving my reasons why - I'm not asking you to argue about it - I'm putting forth MY reasons for why I feel it goes downhill....and seems to be declining rapidly.

****ing hell do you not think this puts people off? I'm making a comment on your reasons in a totally non offensive way and you can't make it ten seconds into an exchange with someone without bringing up all these prosaic, obvious things like your right to have an opinion, your right to have a point, the fact that it's your reasons you're giving zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Just respond to the points or leave them, yeah? It's cool with me either way. I know you didn't ask for an argument on what you wrote but I felt like giving you one anyway because that's sort of the point of the thread.

It seems like you can't actually converse with about 70% of the people on this forum without instantly driving the car off the road and insisting that it's your car and you can do what you want with it.

But it's their fault, obviously. RIP TiBB.

**** it, man. I'm talking to a mesh fence.

Yes, when I was away on my ban people kept telling me how much the site had changed and that it's a waste land now and stuff and so many good members have ******ed off.

And I didn't believe them - but it's true, the forum is patheticly dull now.

I guess I don't really have that valid a point of comparison seeing as I've only been here since 2010 and it seems the forum kinda peaked in 07/08/09 but even while I've been here the number of arguments has dropped considerably and everything is a lot calmer now, so I don't think that hostility between members is a reason for it being quieter. I'd probably agree with Stu that the general decline in Big Brother has been a big factor, even though I still love the show it's not as big a talking point as it used to be, I'd say it goes largely ignored by the vast majority of people so chances are that there's gonna be a far lower number of people who are looking to join a forum specifically dedicated to Big Brother.

Mind you between 2010 and 2011 there was a whole year of off-season where for a lot of it we didn't know that Big Brother was gonna be coming back at all and the forum still stayed relatively active so I don't think it's completely dead yet, and there's a few posters who have stayed from BB12 and hopefully there'll be a few from BB13 as well

The only show other than BB that gets this place active is X Factor, the others get talked about a bit but only like 1 or 2 threads a day. So it will be unactive til May when BB starts again.
