I definitely agree with that - I don't understand people mocking or laughing at overweight people at the gym / out running etc... They are actively trying to improve their health and body image!

Yeah exactly, what they should be thinking is "Good on them" but sometimes they just can't win, if they don't try they're lazy and it's their own fault and when they do you have people like her laughing at them

Even worse I think is that the reason many won't even try in the first place is that they're scared of being laughed at... And people try to reassure them, saying "No no, no one will laugh at you, you're there for the right reasons!"... But the sad truth is, there are plenty of people out there like this woman who ARE laughing.

Weight issues are so complicated and sensitive, too, a very difficult cycle for people to get out of. They're caused by self-esteem issues but at the same time are the cause OF self-esteem issues.

Yeah it's a vicious circle and something like what that girl did could have absolutely devastating effects on that woman, really devastating. I mean, even if you were in decent shape someone posting a naked photo of you online could push a person over the edge.

Taking a positive from it though, atleast, as far as I know pretty much everyone who responded to her snapchat post was horrified at what she'd done, she didn't get the reaction she was looking for, which is a bit of a plus for us humans i think

A Playboy model who posted a photograph of an elderly woman naked in the gym changing room, with a sarcastic comment, could face a prison sentence and a $1 million damages claim after the victim said that she was interested in pressing charges.

Dani Mathers, the 2015 Playboy Playmate of the Year, took the unflattering photograph in July, inside a Los Angeles gym.

The woman was dressing, and was photographed naked with the caption: “If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either.”

She posted the image on Snapchat, and was greeted with a barrage of anger at her “body shaming” of the pensioner.

She was fired from her job with LA radio station KLOS, and the Los Angeles Police Department has opened a criminal investigation into the matter.

Devin McRae, an entertainment lawyer, said that the victim could be in line for a $1 million claim for damages.




“It could go into the seven figures, it would seem,” he told website The Wrap. “I think the victim would have a very solid case.”

He said she could sue for invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress. She could also potentially sue under a “revenge porn” statute, which forbids the intentional distribution of an image of a person without that person’s consent, if the distributor of the image knew that the subject had a “reasonable expectation that the material would remain private” and if the image “exposes an intimate body part of the other person”.

Dissemination of private images carries a punishment of up to six months behind bars.

The LAPD is looking to make an example out of Mathers, and the LA city attorney has already launched a review of the case and will announce its decision soon, according to gossip site TMZ.

Mathers, 29, claimed that she posted the image by mistake, and issued an apology.

“I just want to acknowledge a photo that I accidentally posted,” she said. “It was absolutely wrong and not what I meant to do. I chose to do what I do for a living because I love the female body and I know body shaming is wrong, that’s not what I’m about and this is not the type of person I am.

“The photo was taken as part of a personal conversation with a girlfriend and because I am new to Snapchat I really didn’t realise I had posted it, and that was a huge mistake.

“I know I have upset a lot of people out there but please, please believe me this when I say this: This is not the type of person that I am.

"I have never done this before and I will never do this again, you have my word.”

Her lawyer Tom Mesereau, who helped Michael Jackson beat child molestation charges in 2005, said he hoped that reports the woman was intending to press charges were false.

“I hope the rumours are not true,” he said.

“Dani Mathers never tried to hurt anyone at any time and certainly never tried to break the law.”

I love how they're acting like the whole issue is that she posted the picture and are overlooking the fact that she took the photo in the first place. Unless they actually believe secretly taking a picture of a naked stranger is perfectly acceptable as long as you don't intend on sharing it online

Its invading someone's privacy to take a photo of her in the first place, add on top of that she chose to take it when she was naked. To then set out to humiliate a complete stranger is just so odd. One could perhaps understand if there was some bad blood between them, but this seems to have been a premeditated act on a complete stranger. That's not normal by any standard of measurement. Why would she care what size a stranger was. It's an act of pure nastiness, and she deserves all that's coming to her.

It's not normal but if the things random strangers have said to my friend are anything to go on there are a lot of people out there who think it's OK to make remarks to people and in their hearing about people's appearance. This is just a step further.
