She seemed to be very fragile and it seemed deeply set. Not just a possible reflection on Bear before anyone says so. I'm no Bear fan but she looked so timid and insecure. I won't go into detail re my childhood but it wasn't pleasant to have a flawed parent. I don't behave like Bear because of it but I teach pupils who do because of flawed parents. It can affect people different ways. His mention of mum seems an Achilles heel to him. I do wonder why now. Just my perspective.
This is a really interesting and sensitive post, power2thepeople, and you are so right when you say it can affect people in different ways, and they can also react in many different ways due to flawed parenting.

Some hit out at the world, some turn it in on themselves and some, like yourself, will use it to ensure they create a better future for themselves and to try to help others avoid the first two by showing them there is a way out, a better way forward. The latter is the most challenging but most productive response which takes real strength of character.

Depending on their basic character and the power of the influences on them, those you help will make their own choices of how to move forward. Some of them will choose to use you as a role model and an inspiration, and succeed in life despite of their environment. Sadly, some will battle against it but the influences will be too much and they will be defeated by the challenge. And then some will always throw two fingers up at any help or support they are offered, and choose to repeat patterns.

Human beings are so interesting and complex.

I find it quite sick that people have so much hate for Bear that they would be insulting his mother in this case tbh, especially when she has done nothing wrong.

I don't think anyone has insulted her? I think people feel for her...I know I did on BOTS, she really looked beaten down and low in spirits. I could be totally wrong, but that is how she seemed to me...

She gave the world Stephen Bear.

That's worth a prison sentence at least.

...tbf though, Vicky...the whole character of Bear has purposefully prodded and poked for the very worst in people.../that's all there was ever going to be../awful behaviour because that's what he wanted to see../no balance or very little and that's all obviously that got the highlights as well and when that happens in a series..?.../well, fans etc are just an extension and a 'reaction' to that series so it very much reflect on the forum..negativity is poked for and negativity is got an that's all human nature and human psychology and it's been very much all through the series and very much from 'both camps'...and very much 'hate' in many areas that are really unnecessary because Lordy Lord, it's not as if we haven't had enough to judge on with their characters...

...anyways, I don't usually have any interest beyond the series and after it...(and sorry if this is a rush and appears blunt, it's just that I have to go off...)...but on the thread topic ..?..and in fairness to his dad...again, it's very much the vein and negativity of the series...(I don't know why Bear doesn't seem to have known that his dad was removed from the after party celebrations and that his family had left because surely, the producers/staff etc should have gone to him first and say...your dad's getting a little emotional etc and can you talk to him..)...he had obviously had a few drinks in his celebrations (his dad..)...and alcohol enhances/brings to the surface etc and a release of so much negative against his son all through the series and a build up of that...whatever behaviour from Bear, it's his son and he loves and supports him....so that all bubbling there as well..and then at the party, maybe hearing many negatives as well from housemates about his son or whatever or just being in something that could have felt like a negative vibe and environment..?...and then, like the housemates did, reacting to that with alcohol enhancing it all...but that's why many people can't just see it all as a 'game' as well, because these are real people, these are real families and none of them deserve any 'hate'...but sadly, the whole house and series has purposefully been slanted that way and once 'unleashed' like that, then it sadly becomes 'uncontrollable'..anyways, I'm rushed and I hope some of this makes sense.......

..trust the good old Sun to report this..../awful newspaper...

...ughh, I wish that I could say things with a few words but can you imagine as a parent, how it must have felt..being at that party and a huge negativity for your child in the editing/media etc having built up through the series and then just pop a little alcohol in there as well...but that's the thing though the 'reactions' have often been extreme in the house and then become the 'worse behaviour' ..but that's what has been purposefully and relentlessly provoked for and why I've disliked the series so much because it's only ever shown the 'worst of'....

i hear where you are coming from Ammi, but at the end of the day we all have to deal with the stresses and strains life throws at us and the majority manage to keep there tempers etc in check, so I'm not one for making excuses.

I hated bear, but what his father does or doesnt do is just not relevant to me. Does it suggest that perhaps "the norms" are different in the bear household compared to others .... possibly .... but I think we could all have guessed that already from bears behaviour in the house.

.....hmmm, I don't think that it would suggest that for me though...I mean, there's Bear's brother as well, is it Danny..?...he seems a very level a person in him trying to calm the situation with his dad...also the 'product' of his parent's influence etc.../there again that's only judging by this very bite-size of Bear's family in a very emotionally heightened situation... but that's what his dad is being judged on as to the parent he is...also his mum as well as being very down-trodden to be part of the family, I just can't imagine how that must make her feel because this is her husband and son/the people that she loves and being sympathised with because of her family../wow, one of the most hurtful things to have to experience for her...and she was probably just exhausted anyway/the whole family would have been with the few days leading up to the final../physically and emotionally exhausted I would think...

...anyways, this is another reason why I can't ever be on board with a series like this and the creating of an extreme antagonist like Bear, to make it so much about one person etc in such a negative way...because these are real people and real families etc and being called scum and stuff like that and it's actually evoking real life hate, you know....and there are some loonies out there/hate filled loonies who are capable of physical harm..and I do feel that BB has a responsibility there in how they portray people and to create a balance much more than this series has....

All I'm saying is, you get your education and personality somewhere, and it starts at home. So it comes as ano surprise to me this behaviour. It's like "tell me who your friends are...", that's why I used the word might.

This is just giving people a further opportunity to have a dig at Bear (which I have no idea why people are slating him based upon his dad's actions - they're two different people). Some of the comments made about housemates' family members are awful, both from the public and by other housemates (Renee this series).

Just a thought...had your child just won CBB and you knew that some eyes and the press were upon you might you have tried to keep sober and behave in a way that did not draw attention to yourself? Might you have tried not to embarrass your wife?
