Must be a council decision, ours cut them all off pretty early too... no idea of the specific time though. Seems about 1am.

They follow the sunset/sunrise schedule here
Some councils do switch them off in the early hours to stop light pollution (save money) because it interferes with star watchers etc. Last edited by bots; 15-06-2019 at 07:15 AM. |

it's both and in some cases they will say it's to stop light pollution to save money.
There are arguments for and against. One could easily say that very few people benefit from lights being on in the middle of the night and its just not economically efficient. In terms of global warming, switching off the lights even for a few hours will do wonders for the environmental targets |
