using cotton buds in your ears is one of the worst things you can do to your ear. It actually forces debris further into your ear and compacts it. If you want to remove wax simply put a couple of drops of olive oil into each ear and it will dissolve any wax and you can then wipe it away later with a tissue

My favourite is a hair grip. You can get all the way down to your ear drum for a good scratch..heaven.
