To be honest I'm a bit whatever about it. The doom & gloom that was forecast when he won in 2016 didn't really come to pass, and the land of butterflies and rainbows that was hoped for when the Blues got back in didn't happen either. The social climate in the US is what it is, and the person in the Big Seat frankly doesn't seem to alter that much at all. It probably doesn't help that Biden's presidency has also been some sort of surrealist comedy sketch.

Trump will be too busy having parties and playing golf and he is too lazy and haphazard to plan anything. Others in his team will do stuff, i'm sure, but they wont do 5% of what they have said they will do

There's mild chatter here that Greg Abbott/State of Texas are seriously thinking of defying the SCOTUS ruling and not giving Border Control access to cut the razor wire they've put up. I take it a bit more seriously seeing as its word of mouth within law enforcement here. (Only way I knew about it)

Abbott released a statement about this yesterday, it's not word of mouth Chinese whispers.

Our politicians are either ignorant or pretending to misunderstand Americans' penchant for rebellion for posterity, which has always been a thing. So to try to transfer any acceptance of certain candidates as some kind of serious debate on what they're saying and doing, its the blind leading the blind. When we're very annoyed with any establishment presence, we're liable to vote unpredictably. That has always been true. A vote for Trump is designed to EMBARRASS the 2-party system. That's the point. (Even if he doesn't win...)

Our system has gone well beyond simply forcing its version of moral code onto us (all are guilty of this for decades), but forcing BAD policy of which we all pay a direct price. So even the people who still claim to believe in more govt intervention feel their trust is betrayed by some very unreasonable decisions. Ex: People/Liberals fleeing areas with high COL, taxes, crime, neverending regulations, etc to states with less of these issues... I seriously doubt they all suddenly converted to Conservatism.

Nikki is missing this as well and because she has advertised her ignorance so clearly, she'll lose. Still trying to run on the same establishment flavors is a bad move in 2024.

The GOP are not considered saviors, either. So while it's true the Presidentials have become nothing but an embarrassingly boring personality contest, it's missing valuable context to say it's simply down to fanaticism why one politician wins over another. That's oversimplifying the math. It's also ignoring how voting has worked out in the past few decades. Those elements do exist, however. The cringy af "Trump was sent by God!!!1" shyster campaign ads voiced by dead people using AI, for one. However, it's really not why he's doing so well.

How many people do you think will want Trump to win just to piss other people off? A lot. Trump is an embarrassment in many many ways. However, he's not anymore of an embarrassment than what the US political system has become. Congress approval in the teens and filled with constant infighting (and endless committees and investigations). Nothing getting done and frankly wasting our money. Place him next to the sentiment surrounding the direction of our country and suddenly he goes from a laughing stock to a nothingburger. "Oh no, our media people and politicians are UBER MAD they can't get their way now! Let's do what they tell us to do, that's worked so well for us in the past, amirite?..."

I'm not even sure that Democrats like the Democrats. I think some just vote out of habit, regardless of who is running. Biden shouldn't have been a viable candidate, but here we are, voting for the next old person to enter the US' most famous taxpayer funded nursing facility. What's more worrying for me is our younger generations have done such a piss poor job of producing bigger thinkers than the dying breed... it really *should* be easy, at this point.
