It has a lot of guidelines as to how you should raise someone, teach him your beliefs obviously. but a muslim is considered an adult at around 12 or 13. After than age, one becomes responsible of his own actions. And scientifically, it does concur!

The thing is, when you think about being an adult, a lot of you, are only thinking about sex stuff. In societies, where, thats not the dominant issue, its farthest from most peoples minds. They think of other issues, not at all involved in that. And yeah, around 11, 12, is when you can contribute.

12 year olds are not adults in any way, sexually or otherwise. And to say that sex is not the dominant issue in societies where very young girls are often married off to much older men - is an insult to the intelligence of others!

Its not saying they are fully formed adults in any way just they are now moving on from childhood.

In the Christian and Jewish religions the onset of puberty at 12/13 is marked by ceremonies to celebrate the young persons maturity. Confirmation, Bar Mitzvah. these mark the transition from child to adult and the start of the young persons journey through life. It also marks the start of the person being responsible for their life and the decisions they make.

Note the age of criminal responsibility is 10 in the UK (8 in Scotland)

"but a muslim is considered an adult at around 12 or 13" - the quote doesn't suggest the start of the journey of growing into an adult - it states that they are considered an adult at 12 or 13 - which I think most would consider a ridiculous concept.

And why would any religion want their children to grow up so quickly. Childhood is precious - and provides a solid foundation for healthy emotional growth - and is most likely to produce well balanced adults.

I dont think its meant to mean at age 12 the young person is suddenly an adult rather its about that age that the young person becomes more mature, more able to make adult decisions, to start becoming more responsible. Obviously if the 13 year old decided to drop out of school or make simialar decisions they would be treated in a more mature way but still wouldnt be allowed full control of their lives.

Poor woman.

Though I think not tweeting about it would've been a good idea - she has every right to.
