I dont think its schools as such, think it was just our school

Then again, we used to get sent home at the first sign of snow 'incase' the pipes froze or whatever. Not that I was complaining at the time

I promise you, a lot of americans feel the same way! Its even worse when you are there, its like eveyone is forced to do something about 911, even though they really dont want to! I am cool to remember it on the day, but all day all week, all month!

I was listening to an american football talk show the other day, and there is a game Today, but sure enough, all they talked about was, how its gonna be 911 on sunday, and bla bla bla! COmpletely forgot to talk about the game. Its just depressing, and mainly because of TV! Most people will watch it once on the day, but after that, they will switch the channel everytime!

Woah - it's actually so strange to hear that alot of Americans feel that way.

Because the talk on Facebook and stuff [here] is that it is being shoved down the world's throats by America and stuff, but then in reality - I guess it's actually happening to you guys by the media alot more than any other country.

Its refreshing to hear an American say this I always presumed Americans just mourned the day of 9/11 like it was the end of the world or something. Im hoping that after this 10 year anniversary, it will all quiet down abit.

I kinda feel sorry for any normal muslims in America at the moment, it must be quite awkward for them..

I was only 7 and at school at the time it happened, I remember coming home and my mum was crying at the TV and I was just like

8:46:30 (NY time) is the exact time the first plane hit. 12 minutes.

Why would it be akward for muslims? The whole issue of islamophobia is a lie by the press. There have been more anti-semetic attacks in America on jews since 9/11 than islamophobic attacks. And FAR more attacks on gays than muslims. Obviously any discrimination is wrong, but there is no big backlash against Muslims in America.

I suspect most muslims are feeling the same way all MATURE American's are feeling, that it's a horrible world changing tragedy and all those lost deserve to be remembered.

As far as some Americans being sick of hearing about 9/11 because they'd rather hear the FOOTBALL gossip, well that tells you all you need to know about that sort of person. Very immature.

It was my first day back at school after having a late summer holiday ... to America. Flew back on the 9th and was in New York on the 8th. But the weird thing is its only seeing the coverage now that I realise how serious it actually was. I kind of knew at the time but it never really registered, just thought two buildings had collapsed

Was in reception, remember going to my mum's work and watching it on a big screen. Can't remember anything else.

It was the first Friday of secondary school for me and I got off the school bus a stop early and walked down to my old primary school with a mate to pick up our Year 6 class photographs which had arrived late.

After having a chat with the teachers about how we were getting on after our first week of "high school" one teacher came running in "Another plane has flown into the other tower now! :O" but we thought it was just a freak accident.

Got home about 20 minutes later and my Mam shouted me to "come quickly", she had the TV on with the live footage from NYC and honestly I didn't take my eyes off it for about 3 hours!

It's crazy where time's gone!

I would have loved to seen it live. Everything fascinates me and I almost see something beautiful about how it happened. I hate how people had to die and obviously it was horrible but the spectacle I find stunning.

like Jonnii and Tom it was in the first week of secondary school for me - and all I can remember is walking past classrooms full of people around TVs but I didn't even think to stop, I thought it must have been some sporting occasion or something. My mum picked me up and we heard it on the radio - so rushed home and watched the news.

Aside from receiving the news of deaths of family members, there has been nothing and will be nothing as immediately heart-wrenching as watching those towers fall.

Just 22seconds but that Plane with the Evil Saudi Terror Gang
going into the 2nd tower is a shocker.

And what was more shocking is Atta (from Egypt) the Leader of that mission
was in Florida a year before learning how to Fly a Plane
but not take off or land.
He paid his cash just to learn to fly steady.

The Man running the Florida Fly School told the FBI
but sadly as they sent a Lady FBI agent
it was not looked into far enough.

I'd just turned 14, was at school, a teacher came into the classroom and talked to my teacher and she turned on the TV and we sat there until school was over watching it. Tbh I didn't think much of it at the time, was just pleased I got to watch TV instead of work. An A-level Economics class was supposed to be going to NY in the October half term but it got cancelled due to my HM being paranoid about it happening again.

Has anybody else mentally invisaged what it would have been like to have been in that building when it was first hit? I'd like to think I would have been calm and very helpful.

-random comment I know but it's a thought I've had and I'm hoping it's not only me who was sick enough to think it :-/
