Schools have a duty of care to ensure that the pupils for whom they are responsible are looked after.

Not everyone at school will have a parent or a childminder who can drop everything and be at home should the pupils be sent home.

I dont think its schools as such, think it was just our school

Then again, we used to get sent home at the first sign of snow 'incase' the pipes froze or whatever. Not that I was complaining at the time
