She could have read her book, or she could have just looked at her age and assumed she's had a hard life, but then if she had read her book and done some research on her before going in there with her, how does that correlate to Nicola and the rest of the house knowing? just because one person knows, doesn't mean the rest do, unless Jess did know about it and went around the house gossiping about it, in which case, she would be a twat and I don't think she is.

I was just answering your question as to why I thought Jess knew, the way she said it she seemed to be referring to something she knew that happened, not just oh she's old so must have had a hard life
