This awful incident doesn't come as a complete shock. These Islamist terrorists have been emboldened by Australia's recognition of Gaza. Australia backed Hamas against Israel. They showed the world, just like the UK did. And now Jewish people are paying the price and by extension, non-Jews who will be caught in the crossfire. At least the Aussies shot them dead. Here, they would have been housed in luxury with their own kind and released into a council house.

…and this would undoubtedly not been a first time for the beginning of Hanukkah celebrations on the beach, so at a very heightened time for terrorist activity against the Jewish population…it’s terrifying, how easily this happened and these lives were lost…

Their own security? Australia's gun laws are as tight as ours. Law-abiding, registered gun owners are no longer allowed to keep guns, so only the criminals and terrorists are packing.

Hanukkah celebrations will be starting across the rest of the world today now as well and Jewish communities will all be wondering if they are next to be attacked. Last time in the UK it was Yom Kippur, now it's Hanukkah in Australia. Jewish people are literally unable to celebrate their holidays and holy days in the West without fear of terrorism, that's something that it still doesn't feel like a lot of people fully appreciate

There isn’t a huge Jewish community in NZ (that I’m aware of), probably mainly in Auckland/Wellington if so.

So, I’d like to say yes, but even NZ has had terrorist attacks in the past. So it can’t be ruled out.
