It’s not specific to that thread. It’s every time with you, and this thread is further proof of that. You don’t seem to be capable of chiming your opinion in naturally. It always sounds like a for-and-against debate that you don’t commit to on a directly personal level. And it does my head in. Periodt.

Like I said, I definitely don’t have an issue with your opinions or even with you as a person. It’s your communication style. It’s too eager to turn everything into a debate rather than letting opinions flow more naturally. Maybe neutral wasn’t the right word in this specific context but your style of expressing an opinion is just oh-so-very … ugh. It always sounds like a semi-formal debate.

The whole thing about primary-school teacher vs. just-plain ‘go back to primary school’ is a prime example of whar I’m talking about. When are you gonna get it?

It's a debates forum and surely - SURELY - there are more than enough people casually running their mouthes on here already. I feel absolutely no need to join in. In fact when it does happen it's an indication that I'm having an off day and probably shouldn't have logged on at all.

That’s as may-be, Mr-premium-ENTP, but there’s just so much of that with you across the board, outside and inside that section that … ya. It feels like everything you say is intended to be a debate.

Get some brandy down you. It’s Friday night and it’s not that deep.

So for an opinion to be natural it has to be ill-considered, sweeping and one-sided. Fair enough; I shall not be doing that so your head's going to continue to be done in, sadly. Like I said; don't read it if you're struggling, read it and reply if you want and I'll reply as I see fit. I'm not a massive fan of your posting style either but it's nowhere close to being enough of an issue to give a second thought . Bit odd really.

I’m not anti-trans. (that’s one thing I’m as clear on as you). I’m just talking about your general style of posting, which cuts across threads, and the thing is, this thread isn’t proving me wrong. But just know that “simplified” and ‘less objectively contentious, in every sitiation’ are not the same thing.

Think we've stumbled on part of the issue there; I'm never posting with any intention of "proving anyone wrong", I'm not here to change hearts and minds so if you've got that impression you're off the mark. Which, again, doesn't matter - I literally couldn't care less. And that's not a personal jibe. I care as much about your impression of me as I care about anyone on TiBB's impression of me, which is zero. I hope at least that much is clear .

We both know that’s not true, otherwise you wouldn’t have gone to the effort of making a whole thread on this.

Clarifying that you’re not trying to prove me wrong is another example of precisely what I’m talking about. OMFG. You’re just not getting it, are you?

Again, get some brandy down you, lad. Or CBD. Or Valium. Whatever, whichever. Whatever your vice of tranquility is this Friday night, you need to calm down.

This closing threads thing is new and rather concerning. Perhaps James can update the forum on this new policy of censorship as I am sure all members would be interested going forward??

No-doubt this thread will be closed, too. Just like every other one that questions anything to do with the running of this forum or descends into a bit of tat-for-tat between FMs.

I’ve said my own. And that goes for both of you. You people will not send me to an early grave.

Yes but Redway it seems now that mods get 3 reports from members and rather than moderate its just let's close the thread. That is pretty useless to keep the forum alive?

No?

Exactly it's always been a mainstay

In order you basically try and contain a thread > close a thread > delete a thread

What happened to my ‘Corrie’s-Sunita-comes-out-as-non—binary-irl’ thread that was so bad it had to be deleted?

My question to you, as a human being.

Do you believe that you have a right over other human beings to decide what they can and can't have opinions on?

I understand you have to moderate over outright abuse (which I'm probably guilty of myself, but only when I've felt attacked by you)

But arguments get heated. Humans are passionate about their beliefs. That's what makes debates good and healthy. Humans learn from those interactions. Always have, always will. Censoring people's opinions, and punishing those people for them is just wrong.

The pen is mightier than the sword.

Well that thread in question was from October and descended into a bit of a shitshow on being bumped so closing it was very sensible if I do say so myself

Much of this thread is a fine 1:1 debate but could be carried out over PM too

QT and CD are big boys. Closing and deleting threads/comments when two posters don’t see eye-to-eye and not perm.-banning people like michael21 immediately, letting them roam the forum for years with all their perviness and illiterate abusiveness to boot, makes this site look cheaper than swearing or people disagreeing.

We’re fundamentally all here because we have some level of affiliation with Big Brother. Arguments are subject to modification pre.-transmission but they’re not necessarily filtered out completely. The men, women and teenagers of TiBB should be able to not see eye-to-eye, within reason, and not be cancelled.

No real issue with closing a thread that's gone completely off-piste but you can't leave behind the posts that lead to it being closed - or at least, mine seem to be regularly deleted when it's those that have caused the thread to be closed . I'm being 100% genuine when I say all I'm asking for is fairness and consistency - it's not so much about the actual decision.
