Labour overreacting to the results as usual. Haven't had our results here yet but I expect the Tories to have got a real pasting.

Hmm, it's almost like people were stereotyping when they said that people who don;t vote Tory are more likely not to have any ID...

I'm STILL not convinced we'll shake them off at the next GE though ... they'll have tricks up their sleeve to roll out for that. Though Labour will likely be helped somewhat with Scottish votes now that the SNP have ****ing imploded .

(Hey, others are stereotyping, so why can't i?) Quote:
I think the probable outcome will be a squeak-through for the Tories, with a victory for Labour in the following one. Especially if people are still whining about a party who's not in power shifting the theoretical things they might do if they were, on either side of a pandemic and getting involved in a war. (Wahhhh, and Bregthit!!!)

Starmer has done admirably in dealing with the findings and instructions from the Equalities commission inquiry.
It's one thing he's actually doing right. Even that commission has praised his action on it. Even to now signing off on its investigation. People can deny that all they like and ignore the faults of the Cons.all they wish. Antisemitism is NOT deep-rooted in the Labour Party. The Equalities commission even stated that. I as a Labour member and someone who abhors antisemitism would not stay in the party if it was deep-rooted. It's amazing how those who hate Labour and call us in Labour as scum. ( Not that I'm bothered on that, as scum is the bad, waste or worst rising to the top, so we've learned that from the present Cons.) That they seem to know more about the Labour party from their own prejudice against Labour.. Than we do and indeed the totally independent Equalities commission. Obviously there's no reasoning with that personalised and general prejudice . I'll stand with anything that the Equalities commision says. As I was over the moon when they said they were going to fully investigate Labour to find the truth out. I'd like now to see them do a similar one on the Cons on other unsavoury matters of prejudice they possibly have. Last edited by joeysteele; 05-05-2023 at 10:22 AM. |

“This is exactly how Nazi Germany started.”
No it was far more than just an ID that 1938 Germany pushed Forward. As the World let Hitler take over Poland, Austria and France as well as other nations by 1940 he was loving his trip in Romantic France To sign the Take over in that Symbolic Train Carriage. Poor France so weak, ![]() [To many Germans – Adolf Hitler included – the signing of the armistice in the forest of Compičgne was the ultimate betrayal and a national humiliation. To the French, it was one of their greatest moments of triumph.] https://www.history.co.uk/article/th...peace-treaties Last edited by arista; 05-05-2023 at 12:39 PM. |

I don't actually have any particular issue with photo voting ID overall when it comes down to it - but there should have been a heavily advertised lead-in time of 5+ years and easy, free access to a valid form of photo ID first.
It does all feel like a bit of a return to the old "mandatory citizen ID card" stuff from years ago though, to be honest. WHich was scrapped, ironically, because the Tories didn't like it. |

The BBC is projecting that if all of Britain had the chance to vote in local elections today - and had behaved in the same way as those who did - the share of the vote for each party would be as follows:
Conservative - 26% Labour - 35% Liberal Democrats - 20% Others - 19% The nine-point lead that Labour is projected to have over the Conservatives is the largest lead that the Labour party have recorded on our measure since losing power in 2010. |
