It's all over TV, radio and newspapers at the moment but what's your take on it?

The singer collected eight awards while wearing the Franc Fernandez-designed outfit, complete with boots, purse and a hat made from cuts of beef.

Cher, who presented the prizes, wrote on her Twitter account that as an "art piece it was astonishing!" and that the meat purse was "genius."

She added: "modern art elicits discussion, introspection & conflict! Everyone's talking about it! BINGO!"

However, animal rights groups condemned the garment.

A statement from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said that "wearing a dress made from cuts of dead cows is offensive enough to bring comment, but someone should whisper in her ear that more people are upset by butchery than are impressed by it."

Its not art, it looks vile, and stupid. I know she trys to be "different" but this is a bit to far.

From an artist's POV it's marvellous. The attention to detail is fascinating and conceptually it's exciting.

It IS art, no matter how you sugar coat it, it's art. Damien Hurst sliced a cow and it's calf in half, pickled it and made millions of Ł and won The Turner Prize, basically like the Oscar's of the art community.



The way art has moved on now, it's more and more becoming solely based on conceptual art and the issues/meanings behind pieces rather than things 'looking good'.

I say good on her, I think it's clever on her part knowing that the main thing people pick up on with her other than her music is her fashion sense and as she said "it's got people talking".

Anyway, I'm against vegetarianism so the fact they're complaining doesn't bother me as it seems they always feel the need to showcase their opinions to no avail.

Or course it's art but then so is anything. Art is a subjective relative. Just because something is art does not automatically qualify it for merit.

It's just a crude publicity stunt. A snapshot of her entire career save for the decent pop tunes. Sure she might apply some half baked 'issue' to it later in interviews but it's basically a publicity stunt. Nothing more. Something to get the idiots who buy into it talking.

Yeah, I agree. People like her music and I personally think she's really talented but she does take the "weird" act too far.

You would have to clean her seat and everything.. And imagine washing that crap off your body, especially around her more private areas.. not where id want raw beef..

It can be art all it likes but it looks bloody awful.

Oh, well she took some gay people from the US armed forces to the VMA's because in the US apparently if your gay you aren't allowed in, so she took them to like raise awareness w/e, and basically she said
"If you don't stand up for what you believe in, if you don't fight for your rights, sooner or later we're going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones, and I am not a piece of meat"

You are allowed in, it's just that the US Army have a "dont ask, dont tell" policy where you keep your sexuality private

And I like Gaga but it seems pretty clear that she did copy the design of that earlier dress tbh no matter how hard she trys to find meaning in something that has none, and whatever spin she puts on it.
