I thought I'd make a thread to recommend that HMV (I'm aware that on times I do sound like their PR gimp) have got a bundle of cult classics around the £2-£6 mark which is really worth exploiting.
I went in earlier today and picked up American Psycho and Kafka's Metamorphosis (&other stories) for £4 for the pair. Have also got Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World from there before - they also have some Dickens, Verne, some others I'm too tired to remember. Other than HMV - I tend to buy from The Works a lot. Their 3 for £5 deal

Well it used to be Waterstones before the Dublin ones closed down *sob* So I'm taking to either Hodges and Figgis or Dubray Books. I usually get a good bulk at Christmas from Amazon.

I like the idea of recycling, so I belong to www.greenmetropolis.com where people can buy and sell their books, or from Play.com. I never pay full price for a book so wouldn't buy from a high street store, but if it's a really obscure title I get it from Amazon. And of course I always have a browse in any second hand shops .

Secondhand bookstores or amazon, I'd also drop into charity shops if they have books.

The last book I bought was from play.com! "Room" for only £3. Not sure if it's still £3 now.. it was on Pancake Day when there was a few deals on play.com!

The book I am sort of reading now "I never fancied him anyway" was only £2 from Sainsburys! There are some bargains out there.

If I just want a cheap second-hand copy then alibiris and amazon are pretty good sites, if I want a new book it's normally WH Smith

I buy a lot of books at my local Oxfam shop. They're cheap compared to new ones which is great because I buy a lot of books. The back part of the shop is completely given over to books and there are comfy chairs where you can sit and have a read before you buy. I’m lucky enough to have an independent bookshop with a coffee shop near where I work and I buy quite a few books there. Other than that it’s mostly Amazon.

Amazon, The Works, second hand book stalls and Charity Shops. I would never pay a lot for a book (when they first come out in hardback they can be up to £15), I get through them too quickly, as I suffer from insomnia and often read through the night. lol.

I buy most of my books from Amazon. Either there, WH Smiths or, occasionally, Waterstones. Waterstones is usually too expensive though.
