The first case of underage sexual misconduct/indecent assault was back in 1977/78 over 35 years ago. With the best will in the world I cannot see how any sort of meaningful trial could proceed with such a long time gap.

I have mixed feelings about these current celeb sex abuse claims. Whilst I recognise the CPS would not bring charges without the realistic prospect of a conviction , I struggle to see given the huge amount of time that has passed how any solid conviction could possibly be obtained.

Why did none of these girls/woman ever come forward thirty, twenty, ten or five years ago...????

Never the less, I'm fed up hearing about these 'scandals' now - the Jimmy Saville story got boring very quickly, now it's simply Police and the Press going around any old celebrity they think is 'abit dodgy' - and either hoping some attention seeking *****, will make a statement claiming they were assaulted by them in the 70s, as if it's at all relevant now - or the Police will try their hardest to find someone willing to 'confess' to being touched by a man.

It's pathetic now. Just let it go. If the girls were in that much distress they would of ******ing came forward decades ago, they don't need Police and the Media all over the show, squeezing them like a lemon, for some sort of juicy X-Rated gossip about Max Clifford's cock.

Really...??? Surely 35 years ago Max Clifford was just another aspiring wannabe celeb type, not famous at all so why would any woman/ girl who had been assaulted by him not come forward immediately ??

I guess though since the Police have been looking at Saville and others that likely many names have been given as also doing these acts.
Really,nothing now surprises me as to the names of 'celebrities' suspected or investigated and charged from decades ago though.

I am still completely stunned Kazanne that Rolf Harris is even suspected, that is a massive shocker if it is really true, apparantly his is just a single allegation at this time. I really hope it is wrong.

I have never really liked him, but that doesn't mean I am apt to believe any or some of the stuff against him or the few others they have been looking into. Anyway, did he suddenly stop all the activity in 85' then? I have no idea what is or isn't true anyway with the names coming out in it all. So many that I can't help that feel there is some bandwagon jumping in amongst the allegations and a few truths maybe.

I do agree that coming forward several decades later seems a bit dodgy, but then again, I've technically been the victim of a sexual assault. Sexual assault isn't always a life ruining rapist attacking a victim in public, or a creepy uncle abusing his family connections. In my case, I was very drunk and was forced to do things that I would never have agreed to do in a sober frame of mind with the person who forced themselves upon me. I'm no worse off for the experience - I was very drunk at the time and I can only remember sketchy details, but I later found out from other people that there had been some bragging about what had happened so other people knew what had gone on. As mad as it sounds, I don't want to ruin someone else's life over something that could well have just been a drunken mistake. They might never do that ever again in their lives. I'm not in need of surgery or therapy over the incident, I don't want to ruin someone else's life over something like that...

However, if, some time down the line, I heard that this person was being taken to court over sexual assault, I would seriously reconsider my position on the matter. That, I imagine, is how these situations come to be. Lots of victims who don't necessarily feel victimised, thinking they are isolated incidents. Perhaps they're even friends with the person who committed the assault. I sometimes see the person who assaulted me socially and I don't harbour any ill will towards them. These things can be incredibly complex...
