Default Is there light at the end of the tunnel now?

Is there a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel now?

Heard on the radio at lunchtime that when the Gov review at Easter...if the virus is considered to have peaked....they may relax the lockdown. I pray for this.

Thoughts and opinions?

Plan for the worst and hope for the best. I hope it's the beginning of the end but I'm not at all sure it is.

I hope they don't relax the lockdown soon, with people still dying and becoming ill.

This isn't about anyone here but I'm sick of seeing people say they are bored of this now. I'd love to isolate and know my family are safe, but I am working and risking my life. If any of the bored people want to swap go ahead.

Unfortunately no, they've just opened a field hospital and there are plans for 2 more. Sadly I don't think it's peaked yet.

we are not at a best case peak yet, so there is a long, long way to go. Also, the reduction is slower when it happens than the rate of increase. I can see us being locked down until June

No way, Spain are going to extend lockdown to 26th April, I think we will be in lockdown until at least mid May if not longer

Its not just about being bored. I can cope with that. Its not being allowed to see my son thats getting to me personally. When other people are ignoring the rules and doing what the hell they want I am too frightened of getting a fine. X

I can’t see my son either as he lives in Norwich but we speak every day, I’m just glad we are all healthy so far

Yes but I am used to seeing my son whenever I want to. It seems like a punishment to be told I can't do it anymore and there is no signs of that changing.

I need a bloody drink.

Can't do that. The Gov specifically said that you are not allowed to go out and meet family or friends.

At some point they need to strike a balance because people won't stay locked down forever. I'm not making a moral judgement of any kind here, whether or not each of us thinks people SHOULD stay on lockdown long term is another matter... I'm just being a realist and pointing out that they won't. There's a psychological and economic upper limit to lockdown and both are likely to be before most people would like.

Good post. Especially the psychological upper limit to lockdown. I feel like I have already reached the end of my tether with being virtually imprisoned.

By going out you could kill some ones love one.

There’s going to be thousands that will only see a loved ones grave from now on.

Government would like things back to normal just as much as the next person.

I agree with this

@Kate I would say go ahead and see your son and you can stay a little distance away but still have a chat etc. I've seen loads of people doing it in the streets and neighbours/friends. If you go somewhere where there are minimal people there's literally no problem at all. Oh and don't worry you won't get a fine If anyone tried to stop you (which is VERY unlikely anyway) then just say you're out for a walk.

the attitude of ... how can we get round these restrictions ... is what will be responsible for many more deaths. People still don't seem to be understanding that many more young and old will die

Yes Stacey I have really considered it but in all conscience cannot do it. What if I passed it on to him or vice versa and then my partner and potentially his mum got it. I'd never forgive myself. So tough as it is I have to put up with it.

I keep thinking to myself how much of this is scaremongering. X

It’s not scaremongering. It’s literally what’s necessary to save lives.

It’s not scaremongering in the slightest, but the , even if it was, it should be ramped up because some morons out there still aren’t getting it, people not wanting to be bored for a few weeks are going to kill people through their ignorance and selfishness, if it takes a bit of fear to get them to buck their ideas up, so be it
