I've just heard about this now that the British government want to extend this current lockdown until October. Not happy about it so my vote is to no. Created a poll to see what you think.

Not lockdown, but the emergency laws in case it is needed for instance to shut down an area?

I voted no obviously but if you are talking about the earlier vote it was to extend the use of powers not lockdown itself

You've heard wrong
Edit - Sorry that was rude but like Cherie said it's not lockdown being extended, I think the government is quite committed to its roadmap still Last edited by MTVN; 25-03-2021 at 05:50 PM. |

They'll want to hold onto aspects of it forever because it offers some quite staggering sweeping powers, so I do think we should at the very least be wary of their reasoning - keep our heads on a swivel, so to speak. However it's reasonable to still have the ability to react quickly for the time being. If they end up trying to extend it beyond 2021 - unless there's been some major catastrophe - I think people should start to be a little concerned. The ability to legally enforce "stay at home"/"stay in area" rules has an absolutely MASSIVE ethical question mark over it.

yes, i think the additional powers must be removed in 6 months. 18 months of restrictions is more than anyone can reasonably endure
Democracy is under threat though no doubt about it, elements will want to take advantage while they can. The interesting aspect at the moment is that Russia and China have more relaxed rules than europe at the moment, and if thats not a wake up call, what is |

They will remain hopeful to keep hold of the powers that say they can do what they want without the usual process. Of course.

I don’t think so there are too many Tory rebels and they need Labour to shore up any vote
