Default Pet owners V fireworks.

We have to dodge **** on a daily basis, year after year.

One night out of 364, if your dog is scared. Scared enough to poop itself. Then haha, karma got you.

Rottweilers love fireworks, and they are a proper pet.

Do you have a rotty?

My cat is weird. Some years they petrify him, others he raises his head before going back to sleep.

No, I just watched an online clip of one barking to get the window open so he could see out the high rise flat. Which inspired my thread.

I did however have to live with a chihuahua called bert who had stinky ass and bad temper, before I moved back to scotland from essex.

I detest them.
My Staffie is terrified of them.

I have to sit close to him when they're going off.
Holding him tight close to me.

It wouldn't be too bad if it was just one night bit we get them now days before Halloween and for days before and after guy Fawkes night.
Then the infernal things are back at Christmas and New Year.

I don't mind the organised displays but really I detest the things.
Along with the distress it causes my Staffie.

heres the thing, should we ban everything that could potentially frighten a pet? or indeed frighten anybody/anything, because thats what banning fireworks would open the door to. It's unfortunate that it upsets some pets, but that's life

Those incredibly loud ones that sound and feel like mortar bombs should definitely be banned ..

I agree.

There is honestly no need for some of the Fireworks to sound like Mortar Bombs.

Yes
But we are stuck with them
for years now.

Yesterday Fire station in the South East
had a front window open a bit,
some Evil yobs chucked in a firework,
2 firemen had to go to hospital
to get their hearing checked.

This is why Fireworks bought by
youths are the problem.

Hopefully those idiots that threw the Fireworks get a visit from Big Tyrone.

You can get silent fireworks so that would seem to be the solution, I dont think banning is the answer but the ones that sound like bombs going off should be banned and it’s not one night a year either October through to New Year they are always going off randomly we have just come back from Spain, no fireworks for Diwali or Halloween, there was a short 5 minute display as one of the beach bars closed for the season but they were the normal ones not Beirut style, last night some one was setting them off somewhere not sure what the celebration was

My girl is now mostly deaf so wont bother her now but one of the TL's dogs would shiver, howl and hide

There are NO reasons why they should be sold to silly boys or adults wanting to let them off in the street or in gardens

I'm not and never have called for them to banned.
However I do think organised displays are the better way.

Plus to control the period they go off and also the times.

Guy Fawkes is the 5th November.
Fine.
Possibly even day after on a weekend.

Not for weeks before or after.

Yes have them as New year comes in.
Not all over the Christmas period

Animals have suffered shock and worse with fireworks going off at all times.

They shouldn't even be sold until a few days before guy Fawkes or New year.
Instead they're on sale weeks ahead.

If you saw my Staffie who is a brave and strong being.
With the distress he was in hearing those for hours on end booming noises
You'd maybe understand the unnecessary suffering put on animals.

What it must be like for other wildlife.
Plus an owner of Horses I know has a nightmare time calming and being there for his near panicked Horses with the damn things going off at all hours for days and even weeks.

I agree Joey, animals always seem to suffer for human entertainment, fireworks are used all year round as we are constantly celebrating something, You can get fireworks that don't sound like a bomb going off, which are nice for the kids etc ,but the really loud ones ?I don't get the point of those, plus some are not responsible with them and cause so much damage and you always get the cruel people who tie them etc to animals, so for me displays are the way to go ,with no need for the ones that are mega loud. My dogs just go and cower under the duvet so one of us will go and lie with them and put music on. My animals are far more important to me than a fizzle and a bang.

Dog owners are always complaining about a few nights of fireworks but what about us non dog fans who have to put up with their mutts 365 days a year ****ting everywhere, taking up all the space on paths and parks, slobbering and jumping on you while the owners chuckle about what a cutey he is

New dog owners are the worst, chew your ear off about them all the time and shove pictures in your face, they go on about their dogs more than new parents go on about their babies

None of my Staffies have ever done that, slobbering, barking or jumping on anyone.
Neither have I harped on about my Staffies except to other dog owners when and if they wished to discuss my pets and vice versa theirs.

Even as a new dog owner.

Can people not speak for themselves and if they don't want to talk to people about their pets to just say so to the person.
Rather than moan about them behind their backs.
