Default Rate the series out of ten

Because we all love another bloody poll

I think it's a solid 8 for me. To get the gripes out the way it felt like they made things up as they went along a lot, it was often haphazard, the pacing of the series was all off with when and how they did evictions, the best bits sucked, L&L was very rough round the edges and there were too many gimmicky tasks.

BUT this is the first BB in years and it blew most of the C5 series out the water. A brilliant cast, the right level of drama and fun, some iconic twists and memorable moments. This series showed BB can very legitimately still be a social experiment and the simplicity of the format still has a lot to offer. I'm prepared to cut ITV quite a lot of slack because mistakes were inevitable and they were outweighed by the positives imo

What do you think?

Oh 9 for me.
I'm so glad it's back and it has been a great series.

It's flown over just as all the highlights shows have too.
Always leaving me wanting more of it.

That's a very good and successful sign as to the series.

I enjoyed it, but had this been in a regular yearly BB cycle, and not back after a 5 year break, i think it would be deemed pretty below average.

But, as i missed BB so much in those 5 years, and was over the moon to hav it back, i'll give it an 8.

Agree Joey, it has gone really quickly and the most I've been invested in a BB series since BB12 probably

My only regret is I couldn't watch more live feed but I do think it's another credit to ITV that they ran that every night

A very good season of BB, the show finally shook off the cruelness it had become known for, the show felt fun, and at times tense. I'm glad the direction the show has taken. For a show so short, with so many housemates, every single one was memorable.

It’s a 5 from me
Very sloppy production team
House mates had it too easy
Trish’s twitter posts was a massive balls up
Series’s felt rushed

It reached it's peak around Halloween. The fall out was not enjoyable to watch and the way certain housemates were treated. I personally find it's been quite an exhausting watch and I can't say aside from Trish, there was anyone I really rooted for.

If we are saying that 10 is an incredible perfect series, then I would give this one around a 6 or 7. It's good but there was room for improvement mostly in the way that evictions were handled, there were too many rapid evictions towards the end and it kinda felt like they were making it up as they went along, and I'm also not a fan of the pre-recorded evictions for Big Brother or the pre-recorded launch, but maybe that's just something we will get used to. I also felt like it took a few weeks to really get into the groove and for the tension to build, but I enjoyed seeing the dynamics of the house evolve naturally and not by forcing drama upon them.

I also find it a bit strange to see people say that sometimes it was "too intense" for them and they had to switch off, because compared to some earlier series, most of this one was relatively calm. A lot of the earlier series were far more volatile, but I do think this one had a healthier balance for the most part.

6 or 7. It had more potential but it was hamstrung by its length, the rushed evictions, the production and the editing.

Need a better range of housemates next time. I liked that they had more "normal" people but I'd like to see a few more older housemates in future and just more interesting people in general.

Most of them were deadwood. There wasn't enough drama for me.

8 out of 10 from me, ITV have made a really good first effort but it was all over a bit quick. Maybe after the success of series 1 they'll lengthen it to 9 weeks next time just so long as it doesn't drag on and go stale. We've got Celebrity Big Brother to look forward to next so Happy Christmas everyone and remember Big Brother is always watching

I wanna give it a 6 but I’ll give it a 7 as it’s better than I ever expected it to be and it’s been a blessing to have bb back on our screens!

6 (maybe a 7 if I factor in the winner). I’ve enjoyed it but it hasn’t been vintage and it’s had a lot of faults. From a post I made the other day:

Spoiler:

It was a promising start but on balance, I have to say I’m not impressed

Things they got right:
  • Amazing house
  • Diverse casting (though none of these housemates have “popped” and set the world alight)
  • Someone finally telling Marcus to tone it down (I bet he was fuming)
  • Consistent(ish) format

Things they got wrong:
  • Censoring the live feed. They just don’t get it. House montages are supposed to be for things you GENUINELY can’t broadcast legally, same with bird noise. It’s not to cover up things for the highlights show! Expect the feed to be axed next year
  • Vote to evict. Public still can’t be trusted. Also appalling format from a channel running mental health campaigns
  • Building an (ugly) outdoor set again, and thus allowing the scum crowd back. Was time for a change to an indoor set up and a more intimate audience
  • Incidental music on the edit. Stop trying to make nominations sound “tense”. The commercial music is annoying too but I can appreciate that’s what people expect from reality TV these days
  • Far too many tasks. They’ve been ok but they’re constant
  • Backdoor, pre-taped evictions. This is C5 bollocks
  • Meddling with nomination thresholds
  • Non-chronological editing, and splicing different shots together to literally fake scenes. This has been proven by the live feed so again, expect it to disappear!
  • And finally, we’re back to civilian playing second fiddle to CBB. Do **** off

In short: longer series, 24/7 feed (and NOT constantly muted), vote to save (or change the format totally)

I mean in fairness there were several nights where there were genuinely more bird noise and house montages than there was uncut footage across the three hours, and all because they were trying to save content for the highlights show! That’s a fundamental misunderstanding of both the purpose of the bird noise and house montages, i.e. to avoid legal issues not prevent spoilers, and the benefits of the feed in generating round-the-clock discussion (let alone it being the shows premise)

I'd give it 9/10, really entertaining/interesting series with a bunch of great housemates. I didn't really find any of the highlights shows to be dull or boring and it kept me invested throughout. Probably my favourite final 3 of all time, I really liked all of them and they're my top 3 of the series. The BEST winner as well

I put 9 but I meant to put 8.

I think the casting was solid and although it was quite tediously boring and repetitive at times I never missed an episode or tuned out like I did in C5 series for most of them…
I started my BB journey in 2012 so can’t really reference C4 althoufh I know it was oodles better anyway… But nah this was a very good series given what I have to reference in real time watching…

I’ll give it an 8/10. I think some of the divide stuff really made it feel a little depressing at times and the love triangle crap dragged it down but the fun parts of the series were great, some housemates should have made it further than others but other than that I liked it for the most part overall, I think it works well as a re-introduction to the show.

A very solid 8, the final week didn’t interest me at all so I barely watched it, the love triangle stuff was tedious and the winner was a flub, there were a couple of production errors here and there, but I think can be forgiven slightly due to it being their first run with it, but overall a very good series with an amazing mix of housemates, could have done with a few more older ones, but a very good first attempt, here’s hoping they fix the problems for next series

An eight from me. Enjoyed it overall but the shabby presenting needs improving.
