Aunt May's death :bawling:Tbh I wasn't a massive fan of the MJ and Miles stealth sections, although I appreciate the effect they have. The basic little enemies feel so threatening in those sections, it highlights the "superpower" feeling when you get back to spidey and start throwing them around like ragdolls.
The Rhino section especially... He's bloody terrifying when you're scuttling around hiding! Then as Spider-man you kick his ass without breaking a sweat... and Scorpion at the same time.

I got DMC5 in the end, smokin' sexy styyyle.
Combat is (not surprisingly) quite similar to Nier Automata so it's coming back to me fairly quickly. In fact, I suspect some of the animations for the air attacks / down attack at the end of an air combo are actually the same ones used in Automata? Though it's a totally different engine. I guess they could have been ported over. Maybe they're even from earlier DMC games in the first place? Other elements like camera control feel really similar too, though. Odd.

I've never played a Dragon Quest game, but if you want a really good RPG game to play then you should play Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call/Nocturne if you haven't already played the game as it's brilliant imo. And rock hard too without being too unforgiving like some games can be in my view.
You can get the game on the PSN for your PS3 Console if you're interested in checking it out.

I'm playing Bioshock: Infinite at the moment.
I quite like the Game tbh, it has a good atmosphere and it's quite good to have a main character that can talk and has some more character development.
The only complaint that I would have with the game is that it doesn't feel like a Bioshock game to me, but the game is very well made so I can let it slide.
I do miss the Big Daddy/Little Sister storyline though.

Well I beat Bioshock: Infinite a few days back and that level with the Songbird to try and have it attack the Ships was the most difficult level in the franchise imo, really really tough. A great game though and they had a very interesting storyline I thought, although I'm still more of a Bioshock 1 as I loved the Rapture scenery in the first game, and stuff like Fontaine, Ryan, the Little Sisters, and the Big Daddy were iconic enemies in the first game imo that the other two just couldn't quite recapture again, although they were still enjoyable and I'd actually say that I'm surprised that Bioshock 2 doesn't get more loving off the fandom as it added some Horror undertones to itself I thought which gave it it's own vibe.
I'm playing Plague INC: Evolved on a more casual basis at the moment, it's quite good actually for a cheap priced game, I'm trying to do the Dawn Of The Apes mode though which is rock solid imo.
And I somehow beat Vectorman 1 yesterday on the Sega Megadrive Classics on the PS4, I say somehow as it was my first day playing it and I was getting killed on every level.:joker:
The second form of Warhead has to be one of the worst boss encounters of all time imo as it's hard to evade his attacks.
A great game overall with really quirky and fun levels, with the exception of Rock & Roller as that level just didn't really make much sense to me, and even when you realise what you've got to do, it's almost impossible to achieve it as the controls are clunky as hell on the level, and the boss doesn't really leave you alone at any point to be able to retain your health.

Finally got a copy of Injustice 2 (inspired by the MK11 thread) and happy to say it's just as daft and over-the-top as the original :joker:. Annoyingly there's a glitch of some sort in the PC version that makes the game constantly freeze for a couple of seconds when fighting using / against Donkey Kong Grodd but that's my only minor gripe. Makes multiplayer against anyone using him impossible BUT against the computer AI (storyline, etc) it's actually a tactical advantage against him if you use it right because it still registers input while frozen, but only activates the move when it unfreezes, so it gives you a second or two to "plan" a landing or a combo. "It's not a bug, it's a feature!"

I've beaten Red Dead Redemption 2.
Chapters 3-6 are when the game comes alive imo, I also did like chapter 1, chapter 2 has a good story, but the game does make itself very overwhelming at first with all of the gameplay features. And the Epilogues are very ropy imo, from John and Abigail scenes, to a level where John has to propose to Abigail (excuse the spoiler) to John and Jack segments, and of course the boring farming levels, if I wanted to play a Farming game then I'll play one that's actually a Farming game and is actually good at it. Thank god for Sadie, Uncle, and Charles during the Epilogue.
But if you can get to chapter 3 of the game then you really start to get a great lead in Arthur, brilliant characters in general, and a great world that feels so vibrant and alive, and some great main and side missions.
I will try to buy Red Dead Redemption 1 soon, but I am dreading a full game led by John Marston.
Oh and Red Dead Redemption 2 has a great lifespan, you could be playing it for months there's that much to do in the game.

I agree with all of that Mock; RDR2 was only "OK" for me up until chapter 3, and then Chapter 3 right up until the finale was really exceptional. Though looking back, I guess the "slower" first chapters are important to the impact of the second half of the game. You just don't know that at the time.
Agree on the epilogue chapters, too; the farming and building is tedious. The Sadie missions are great though and the final part of the epilogue back up in the snow in the mountains was a good mission and gave nice symmetry with the opening of chapter 1.

Yeah if I was to ever replay the first two chapters I'd probably enjoy them a lot more after knowing how the story goes during chapter 3-6.
And I agree with you that the Sadie missions and the last mission were strong for the epilogue, and like you I did like the symmetry between the last mission and chapter 1.

I played this game for what felt like FOREVER and didn't finish it... I got to the bit where
Tally gets ghost powers after Celly dumps him for a girl
And I thought that was going to be the end of the game but then it kept going and I wasn't sure it has an end, then I started playing something else instead.

I bit the bullet and started Days Gone... it is indeed a bit derivative (there's some Last Of Us in there, elements of a LOT of open world games, a "wheel" crafting system that is basically straight out of Horizon) but I actually don't mind and am enjoying it :worry:. The atmosphere is good, it's well acted, the zombie killing is fun... and I also haven't yet encountered any glaring bugs.
ONE MAJOR GRIPE - there's a menu system that activates on swiping the PS4 touchpad. I have big hands with long fingers and so when using the analogue sticks, my thumbs quite frequently brush against the touchpad. Not hard enough to press it - but enough to swipe it and activate a menu :fist:. This is a problem I've encountered with a couple of games and it does my head in. STOP this feature, developers! :bawling:.
It's not an actual issue in this one because using the "swipe feature" is optional, though not toggleable. Optional as in there is an alternative way to control the same menus (PRESSING the touchpad to activate and then navigating with L1/R1) and the touchpad has no other use... and thus... I have created a workaround by sticking a piece of cardboard to the touchpad :joker:
A "disable swipe" option would be very welcome and I imagine not hard to implement. :hmph:

Red Dead Redemption 1.
So far not in the same league as the second one imo.
I've completed the game.
Overall I'd say that I liked the game, but it is definitely flawed imo, it's no 95% game like Metacritic makes out for me personally, the Mexico and Dutch stuff are really strong in the game, and the side stuff are strong as well imo, but the Ranch levels in Chapter 1 & 4 are incredibly annoying, dull, and display clunky controls imo (even by Rockstar standards) and the game can be incredibly glitchy to the point where you have to redo the mission all over again (Assault On Fort Mercer I'm looking at you) so it stops the game from being anywhere near RDR2's quality where I never encountered any glitches on that game and I did a lot of the content on that game.
Overall though I'd recommend anybody that hasn't played the first RDR to grim and bare through the glitches and the Ranch levels just to get to the Mexico and Dutch stories which are really strong imo, and the levels get more exciting for me personally.

I actually think this has gotten an unfairly bad rap. Some if the emergent gameplay is fantastic.
I was sneaking around a train yard, collecting supplies, seeking gas for the ol bike which was nearly dry. I'd scouted it out with binoculars, all looked clear... Everything fine... I suddenly hear the faint sound of zombies and ominous music starts... Hear a noise behind me... And like literally 50+ of the ****ers come pouring out of an old freight train, running full speed at me.
I absolutely sh** myself :joker:. Alone in my house this afternoon screaming "fuuuuuuuuuuuuck!" at the top of my voice, hahaha.

Update on Day's Gone after some more gameplay:
There are indeed bugs. Nothing game breaking thus far and mostly amusing, but yeah... buggy. My favourite thus far was sniping a guy at a camp who was sat at a table and he went into an animation like he was falling from height, and then froze... so he was just stuck, sat there at the table, with his arms straight up in the air, dead .
I'm also pretty sure a wolf I was fighting spontaneously turned into a zombie? I was fighting it, I panned the camera away to turn around, when I turned backl there was no wolf and instead a zombie was running at me. I *guess* the zombie could have appeared from somewhere and killed the wolf, and then come after me, but it would have been very quick and I saw no wolf corpse :suspect:.
Other major gripe: The sound direction for dialogue, is awful. The voice acting is fine, the content of the dialogue is fine. The volume of voices is ALL OVER THE PLACE. Not the sound mixing, the actual speech. Like one line will be spoken and the next shouted at the top of his voice. Also sometimes you're talking to someone and they're talking normally, but you're bellowing in their face :joker:. There are also these little radio broadcasts and your character sort of mutters his skeptical thoughts about them when they finish... except he sometimes straight up screeches them into the air. "OH YEAH RIGHT THAT'S GREAT FOR YOU BUDDYYYYYYYYY BUT WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF US!!!"
There's no one around. You're just... shouting. Into the air. Whcih I guess could even be fine if you could see it like a venting of frustration but he does it whenever and wherever. Hiding in a bush because zombies? SHOUT about the radio broadcast. Sneaking into an enemy camp. SHOUT!! And somewhat immersion-breakingly... enemies don't hear these shouts. You can be right next to them hiding, and shouting, and they walk right past as though you're silent as a mouse.
HOWEVER, still, rising the motorbike is fun and the larger hordes of zombies are just brilliant crap-your-pants gameplay. Earlier I hid outside one of their hibernation caves and waited for nightfall (they all start coming out in large groups at night). Hid behind a tree, waited for loads on them, threw a grenade into the middle and then ran like **** :joker:. About 20 died and the rest were not pleased...

It sounds like a fun game TS, like most things it's flawed but overall enjoyable.
I've been playing Sonic 06 over the last couple of days as it was the one Sonic game I couldn't get into, however whilst it's still my least favourite Sonic game (yes I like Rise Of Lyric) I actually enjoy most of the gameplay, it's biggest flaw for me is Elise herself, her character is a poor knock-off of Princess Peach imo (who is a poor character herself) but Elise has no interesting dynamics with anyone, and a horror show romance with Sonic which makes you really yearn for Sonic to either stay single or just hook up with Amy.

I've finally beaten the game, it's definitely worth your money if you want a long span Platformer.
I'm overall positive about the game, it has mostly fun levels, a decent overworld with things to do in it, and some stellar boss fights that I proudly put in some of my toughest boss fights in any Sonic game.
However I still am adamant that the Sonic and Elise romance was atrocious and tanks Sonic's character in the game in terms of his story in the game, and it's not just because of the beastiality angle like a lot of people tend to go on about (with good reason tbf) but their dialogue was awful with each other and Sonic's personality was rewritten in the game to fit that horrible romance that had no chemistry whatsoever. Another flaw the game does suffer from is a really horrible lag during areas where there are swarms of enemies to defeat, I mean I get that it was the first main game in the franchise in the PS3 era, but it was quite annoying.
Here's my rankings of the modes in terms of gameplay.
1. Sonic
2. Shadow
3. The Last Episode
4. Silver

Overall as I've said in my other post, this is my worst Sonic game that I've played as even though I like the game I can understand why other people wouldn't like the game as some of it's flaws are quite offputting which imo I didn't encounter as many offputting elements in other unpopular/controversial Sonic installments such as the Riders franchise, Rise Of Lyric, or Shadow The Hedgehog (which seriously needs to be put up on the PSN) so it's why I'd mark it as my worst.
I apologize for the monologue.

Just finished (and got the platinum for :hee: ) Days Gone. I actually really, really enjoyed it. The first 1/3 of the story is slow and the gameplay doesn't pick up until later either when you get the better weapons and items (napalm molotovs :flutter: ) and I honestly think the low metascore for the game MUST largely be down to reviewers not getting past the first maybe 10 hours of the game. IMO the storyline and characters are actually great, but they don't really start to develop at all until you reach the third camp.
And fighting hordes is just plain fun.
Even riding around on the bike; fun once it's maybe 50% to fully upgraded and beyond, a bit frustrating before that when it's junk. Some poor design choices I guess, putting people off the game in the opening act.
Some poor design IS there (the stealth NERO missions are frustrating and boring), it's not groundbreaking technically other than the huge hordes (human AI and gunplay is serviceable but nothing new).
There were minor bugs throughout, I was going to say nothing major, but then an hour or so from the end of the game I was riding full speed across a bridge high over a river and it just... popped out of existence. The entire bridge. Leaving me sailing through the air at top speed to my death in the river below :joker:... but meh, it was funny so.
Anyway, I had a great time with it, the twist if you get the "extra" ending sets up an interesting sequel.
It's an easy 8/10 imo. A rare harsh critique from the reviewers who usually over-inflate ratings if anything.
Oh I would also add though - the game is not scary. The first few hordes you encounter are pretty scary for the "WHAT??" factor but once you unlock some of the weapons in the second region, Deacon St John is a zombie massacring machine armed to the teeth with heavy machine guns, anti-materiel sniper rifles and explosives. They throw some bigger / tougher enemies at you later but the .50 cal rifle will take their head off and the machine guns cut through swarms of weaker enemies like butter :joker:. So it's fun in a power fantasy "Just Cause" sort of way, more than a "heeelp meee" Last Of Us way.

The first three games were amazing Mock. Like 9/10, 10/10 and 9/10 for one two and three. Mass Effect 2 is easily one of the best, if not THE best character-driven RPG of all time.
So yes it's not that Andromeda was flat out "bad", it just had its problems and was an absolutely HUGE disappointment for fans of the series.
I'd still recommend going back and playing the original trilogy even now. Mass Effect 1 especially might feel a little bit dated, but not ancient (yet) so I'd play it while it still feels like a relatively modern game!

Oh I hear how great the first 3 are all of the time, I'm definitely planning on trying to do the trilogy after Andromeda as I've been playing older games than Mass Effect 1 in recent times.
And with Andromeda I've definitely caught a few bugs in the game, twice where I've had to redo fights because the game had enemies on my radar that just weren't there. But I've got to say that overall I've loved the game so if the first three really are better then I should be in for a treat.

It's a fantastic game isn't it? a massive step up in quality from RDR1 imo.
I'm not playing this game but instead watching my Brother play the game and that's Dragon Quest XI, the gameplay looks fine but why is the story so bad? Literally most of the villains have had redemption arcs where we're at and I think that the game is nearly over so it's quite a lot of redemption arcs considering the game is over 50 hours long.
The main plot is barely above TWD TV Series level wafer thin. The game killed off it's best character imo, and Rab and Salvando don't ****! during the second half of the game.
I get that first and foremost it's a game rather than anything else, but it's story makes me feel like I'm losing IQ points when it comes to their efforts at redemption arcs imo, even when the characters are more interesting (like Krystalinda) the game rushes the redemption and makes it come across like another Spike or Negan level of stupidity.

I got really into DMC5 :flutter:. There's a moment (though for me... it was towards the END of my first playthrough) where the combat just clicks and you find yourself pulling off **** where you can't even do it by thinking, it just becomes a "flow" and feels awesome. TBH though I wouldn't say the combat is really about dodging, definitely not with Nero (keep the combat in the air) or V (keep your distance).

 That is weird. I don't think I've ever seen a game where it didn't just "save state" and then resume. TBF I played on PC and I actually think I do remember accidentally skipping a cutscene or two.
Speaking of cutscenes though - if you have the "live action cutscenes" bonus content I thoroughly recommend a playthrough with it. It's mad as a fkn hatter.

Stop comparing :nono:. I found it a bit sluggish compared to Automata (especially Nero and V, Dante can be much more nimble, but you have to learn how to build Style Changes into the combat)

SSS with Nero is near impossible. Possible with Dante once you have most stuff unlocked... and straight up easy with V once you learn how to spam the bird's lightning area attack and... the big demon guy whatever his name is.

It's a game where I honestly recommend going for it, getting the platinum was HUGELY satisfying and not just a boring grind. You have to get so proficient with the combat system and really "mixing up" every move, keeping really mobile with swinging around etc., that if you DO get gold in all of the challenges you get that rl gud "superhero" feeling... like you have actual skillz and it's not just the game giving it out for free.
If I can do it u can do it :hee:

Telltale The Walking Dead Season 1 at the moment.
I honestly can't believe how much better written it is compared to the TV Show, and I loved trying to balance my dynamics with characters like Lily and Kenny.
Season 2 was a very good season, it missed a few of the season 1 characters but thankfully the newcomers that came into the season for the most part were fantastic, and Kenny possibly had my favourite journey throughout season 2. Basically not as good as 1 imo, but still a strong follow up.
Season 3 however had all of the traits that I couldn't stand about the TV Show (and worse in some ways) the Javier, Kate & David love triangle basically invaded the game like how romances invaded the TV Show (despite me turning Kate down about 15 times throughout the game) and away from the Triangle stuff the writing for Kate and David throughout the game was massively inconsistent and made me strongly dislike them individually. Eleanor near the end of the game also suffered from being incredibly unlikeable (especially blaming Javier for the events that she caused) Gabe suffered from being a badly written teen character that always crops up in stories. And Javier suffered from being treated as "the noble one" in his feuds with David (even if sometimes Javier was out of line) which got my back up with Rick on the TV Show as I don't like characters being portrayed as noble in scenarios when they've been scummy.
Things that I did like about the game were Joan, Tripp, Ava, and the settlements probably were at their best when it came to their design and the Politics that were happening within the communities, and it was nice to see Clementine in the game, even if her story was forced into the season.
Overall a massive come down from the first two seasons imo, hopefully season 4 will be better.

The amount of time some of the boss fights in these games have made me rage quit :skull: I'm enjoying 2 it's pretty much what you'd expect from a continuation of Kiwami. I'd say the only difference you'll probably notice if you jump straight in from 1 is the game uses a newer engine so the combat kinda feels off at first but you soon get use to. Did you play 0 before Kiwami?

I'm still on Death Stranding, still loving it. I've literally not looked at ANYTHING online for it, ever, and feel like it was definitely the way to go because it throws up surprises (both storyline and gameplay) constantly.
e.g. I swear there was next-to-zero heavy combat for the first 15+ hours and I assumed there just was none, and then all of a sudden, "here.. you're going to need this assault rifle" :joker:
It's a time-sink though... I spent 5 hours one day setting up an elaborate network of ziplines between 7 different locations :umm2:. Complete coverage of the area. Now when it asks me to take a "timed" delivery and gives me an hour, I show up at the delivery location 2 or 3 minutes later and they actually comment on it like "Err... how did you get here so quickly??"
However... my "trusty" PS4 Pro appears to by DYING :bawling:... the other day I couldn't get it to come on at all until I did a hard reset ("white light of death" on startup) and now every 30-60 mins the screen will cut to black for 3-or-so seconds. Sound sometimes cuts out too, sometimes not.
I really hope it makes it through the year, it's in for some heavy use for FFVII and TLOU2... and I don't fancy replacing it when the PS5 is just around the corner ffs!

How much does it cost to try and get the PS4 Pro repaired? I know that it's expensive, but is it out of the question for you TS?
I usually just get parts off eBay and fix things myself (cracked screens, broken gamepads etc.) but...
Most likely problem is the HDMI controller chip which isn't the cheapest, probably at least £50 for the part and I can't fit it myself because it involves soldering which is something I've yet to ever try :joker:. So I reckon probably £70 or so for someone to repair it. Cheaper than a new console and if this was a year ago I'd be happy enough to spend it but it feels like such a waste when PS5 is just round the corner.
Anyway, touch wood, I moved the console so that the cable has more support and thus far it's been working OK (though I had to fiddle with the cable a lot to get it to come on at all the first time after moving it D: )... so maybe if I never evenslightly nudge it... it'll be alright. Also think the back was overheating where it was before which is probably what's done the damage. Meh.
