One thing for me and that is despite today's unpleasant events with Joey Barton and also some other more minor incidents over the season, albeit by the skin of their teeth, Q.P.R. wothout Barton would not have likely had any chance of survival in the Premier league without Joey playing for them.
Something I hope they will take more notice of than players and other teams jumping in to hammer Barton every chance they get.
I felt he would be a target at Man City today, it is not a good place for him to be, I hope Q.P.R. ignore those against him and still try to get his football do his talking for him as it can and very effectively too.
There's been too many incidents in football where real anger is allowed to take over,by many players. Time referees got into those incidents beofre they escalated.
Punish Barton by all means but I hope Q.P.R stick with him in the end, without him and little prospect of getting other players, they will have no chance next season to stay up,he has been a real workhorse for them on all his really good days, which has been most of the season too.

I see it differently Nathan with respect to you, those you mention have played a massive part too, but it is often from the midfield that gets matches won or lost,it's why it's important to have really good midfielders in a team and though you don't agree, to me Joey Barton is an exceptional midfielder.
He has been wrong many times due to his attitude and temper,he was wrong today and he needs heavy lecturing and punishing but when he plays well he is one of the best there is, which when he has played this season he has been in my opinion.
I have been and watched him play many times this season and will do again next season I hope.

Well, that was said after the very bad incident at Man City, he came back though.
In all honesty had I been the Q.P.R. Manager, I would have kept him as a sub for today's match.
I still like him and support him and today despite his wrongdoing and stupidity,I can still see his worth and talent, so I hope football managers see that as well. I think he will have a club next season, I still think it will be Q.P.R. but Sam Allerdyce for instance is a massive fan of Joey and his skills and he started to do great work with him up North.
I don't think it will be lucky him having a club next season, I think 'a' club if not Q.P.R. will be lucky to have him though.

As a Manager, Shearer made a good few players angry in his very short stint at managing Newcastle by his attitude.
Joey Barton does need to massively curb back on his twitter actions though, it is funny at times but in the end it is counter productive and takes attention away from his football efforts when he is on form.
I did chuckle though at the way he started as to Shearer then got more agitated as others have pointed out above.

Girth do you reckon Arsenal need another Defender? I do...Yeah. One defender to possibly start or for cover and we need cover at the full back positions.
Shearers just a bell end all round. And selfish as Barton pointed out. He's got no right to be on TV and is a case of a pundit who is only there because of who he is His punditry is terrible and it basically amounts to him describing what happened with little or no insight into the subtleties of the play. 'He ran down the wing crossed it and the striker knocked it in. He'll be delighted with that'. *yawn*

Drogba might have scored the winning goal but he didn't have much else to do all game really, held the ball up well up front from time to time, Ashley Cole was everywhere in defence, limited Bayern to very few goal scoring chances and made vital blocks and tackles all the time, probably the best Left back in the world when it comes to Big Games you'd have him over everyone

Scotland centre-back Christophe Berra has defended the right of his team-mates to represent Team GB this summer.
The Scottish Football Association cannot prevent Scots' participation but hopes players will refuse to play to safeguard the Scotland team's identity.
"The Olympics are one of the biggest events in the world," said Berra, in Florida with the Scotland squad.
"I think anyone who had the opportunity to play there and represent their country would be mad to turn it down."
Good old Berra the SFA can go and die
