Their ratings have dwindled massively these past few years, so I'm not expecting anything mammoth to be honest. Probably a peak of 11.3 million or so for the second, an average of about 10m. Would love to be proven wrong though.

Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has confirmed that her character Eva Price will return to The Rovers Return as a barmaid.

Eva previously worked in the pub from 2011 to 2013 before taking up a position at the Underworld factory.

Discussing her character's return behind the bar, Tyldesley told The Sun's Fabulous magazine: "I feel that Eva belongs in The Rovers. She's perfect for that type of environment."

The actress also addressed speculation regarding her salary. It was reported last month that Tyldesley had signed on for another year on a deal that would see her earn more than £100,000.

Tyldesley clarified: "I wish that was true, but no, it's not!

"But the fact that they've signed me again makes me feel honoured that they've got that faith in me."

Last September, Tyldesley shared with ITV's Loose Women that she loves filming the soap, and hopes to stick around for a long time.

Coronation Street fans are in for a treat this summer with the arrival of Khalid Nazir’s wayward daughter Alya.

Leeds born actress Sair Khan, 26, has landed the role of University graduate Alya, who is set to make life difficult for dad Kal, played by Jimi Mistry.

Sair was one of dozens of actresses seen for the part and in the coming weeks she will be joined by an on-screen brother and grandmother yet to be cast.

21-year-old Alya will appear on screen in June and will immediately ruffle a few feathers with her outspoken nature and bubbly personality.

Assistant producer Ella Kelly said: “We're delighted to introduce Sair as Alya, the new strong minded member of the Nazir family, who puts temptation in the path of one male resident, causing a storm before her feet have even hit the cobbles.

This is Sair’s first major TV role her previous credits include various theatre productions and an appearance in Doctors.
