I don't know why everyone is worried about the show being cancelled, without BB or CBB channel 5 got **** all viewers, yes, now they have BB, their other shows are rating well too, but that's because of BB, more people are seeing their adverts. Channel 5 will know that BB is the source to their recent success and passing channel 4, they are not going to let this show go for a long time

Channel 5 never did as badly as people think.

Some of their shows "the hotel inspector" used to get 3 million and ncis ect are allabove 1.7 mark.

This is a poor eviction rating especially with it being such a high profile one.

Expected atleast 1.7.

Big Brother's Bit on the Side followed with 649k (4.9%) at 10.30pm (64k/0.9% on +1).

Does anyone have the "Live From The House" rating?

Nothing yet. Apparently, there is talk that because of the weather, everything was massive down. There is news that apart from a repeat of Mrs Brown Boys nothing hit 3m at all yesterday. Maybe they are out and people are embarrassed to release any ratings. The all day % shares have been released, Ch5 had 4.1%, just slightly down from last weeks 4.3%... so I am guessing BB did go over 1m.

1.00m excluding +1. Around 1.1m including. Less than last week, but higher than the two before. Looks like it does better at 10pm as both last night and last Saturday being at 10pm got higher than the previous 2 weeks at 9pm.

Around 1.40m tonight I expect.

MPD got 790k excl +1. BB beat them again.

Pretty decent Saturday rating for its time slot I suppose. So long as it doesn't dip into the 900k or lower it should be alright, BB will deff get renewed I imagine

If Daley was removed in the early hours and its shown on tonights highlights tonights show should rate well.

Once word spreads on Twitter about Daleys removal I imagine +1 figures will be the highest this series.

Big Brother- 1.69m including +1.

Highest rated highlight show of the series. 3rd highest rating of BB14 behind the launch and Sallie's eviction. It was 1.52m excl but the +1 at 11pm got a massive 173k which is huge for +1 at 11pm.

Skins fell to 318,000 excl +1. Seriously affected by Big Brother.

Yep, BB beat Run which was heavily promoted.

And yes, the 1.69m is not tape checked so it should be slightly higher.

*mazedsalv**
16-07-2013, 09:13 AM
Sorry, what does tape-checked mean?

It finished 5 mins early last night, so those 5 mins would have dragged down the average a bit. Tape checked is the rating the show was actually on, so like 10:00pm-10:55pm. It could made around 20-50,000 viewer difference.

Edit- Actually it only finished 2/3 mins early so I don't think any adjustments will be made.

Sorry to drag you all down but im not over impressed.

Yes its the highest rated hl show since its move but with all that promotion yesterday I was expecting a bigger jump to about 1.8+

+1 had a massive rating as I predicted though.

I cant believe BOTS rated so high especially seeing how awful it was.

Emma should have done last nights BOTS seeing as it should have been a more serious show, instead we got Rylan and V-aj larking about talking about the task.

Got to the point now that I don't think we will ever see big jumps like that. A growth of 230,000 from the previous episode (which was already relatively high in the series terms) is impressive.

However, this morning it's on the newspapers, so maybe it will hold onto its audience. I am sure tonight should stay between 1.50m-1.60m because it's clear that is over 1m watched BOTS, they are interested in the aftermath.

Unless we see another Fight Night, I don't think last nights 1.7m rating will be ever be beaten in a regular BB HL show. So, it's as high as it will go.

BB came 3rd in it's slot, it almost came 2nd, whereas BOTS WON it's slot.

Rob!
16-07-2013, 12:05 PM
What a ridiculous rating for BOTS :joker: shame it wasn't Emma - or at least,'shame Rylan and AJ didn't have the sense to point out that they couldn't really discuss the Daley thing too much for legal reasons.

'Very strong language right from the start, flashing images, nudity, scenes of a sexual nature and scenes that some viewers may find distressing'

You always know it's gonna be a good ep when you get those kind of warnings :D I assume the very strong language warning was in reference to Daley's 'mother****er' but that was at the end of the show so that warning was a bit odd

Apart from Saturday, the ratings have been comfortably up from the previous week (which was itself a build on from Week 2 and Week 3).

Saturday- 1.00m excl +1
Sunday- 1.46m incl +1
Monday- 1.69m incl +1
Tuesday- 1.77m incl +1

From those four ratings alone, Week 5 is averaging 1.48m. So far the week averages:

Week 1- 1.60m
Week 2- 1.32m
Week 3- 1.37m
Week 4- 1.42m
Week 5- 1.48m so far

The overnight averages look poor don't they but we are getting some good ratings now and again and theres so much interest this year.

What did Desmond mean then when he said BOTS was the most watched programme in the UK?

Surely other shows must have gotten more viewers in that time slot?

I would love a BOTS ratings thread to see what it averages each series because it gets more than Made In Chelsea usually and TOWIE has dropped to about 700k and bots usually gets the same or more viewers than the xtra factor.

Noticed this. It's because X Factor is pure casual viewers. Not loyal in the slightest. Of the 7-10 million that watch X Factor I'd say about 1-2.5 million actually Care about the show and watch it non stop.
Big Brother has such a loyal following.

10 million viewers and then the spin off gets about 800k or something.

Made In Chelsea literaly gets about 900k and is considered a massive success.

For anyone that wanted to know, Saturday including +1 got 1.10m, so 100k on +1.

So from Saturday onwards...
1.10m, 1.46m, 1.69m, 1.76m.

So Week 5 average from those 4 alone is 1.50m.

Is this the best rating C5 civilian BB series?

Yep. Monday night was and then it was beaten last night again. Now the last 2 nights have been HL highs. The previous HL high was Day 7 of BB13 which got 1.65m.

It will be down tonight though, around 1.50m I predict.

Yeah i wouldn't expect it to rise again tonight, the task isn't that much to shout about and i think all the coverage from Digital Spy, Daily Mail, and the Mirror definitely gave it the boost the last couple of days. Sounds like we could get BB renewed then?

We will anyway, no other show beats C4 at 10pm 70 days in a row on C5. They renewed it when it averaged 1.6m officialy on 2011. It'll be on C5 until it is truly truly dead

To be honest this task is going to be hilarious and I think alot of newer viewers will see it as genius (if they didn't watch BB11).

I allways thought the ratings would climb but I feel this is a one off due to the controvercy but Callum has the potential to strangle Jackie Travers aswell.

Tonight wont match the 2 previous highlights, I assume it will be at 1.4 but would be erect if when I checked tomorrows ratings thread over my branflakes I see its got another 1.7.

I agree. I hope that 1.6m+ can tune in for the task because I reckon it would go down well with viewers. But I guess now the Daley/Hazel thing has died down, that people will tune back out (like they did with the race row). So I expect 1.4-1.5m. Would be great to have it at 1.6m and would be incredible if it held onto 1.7m (but I find that very, very unlikely).

But I guess it's a good thing that those 1.76m watched nominations last night, so maybe around 1.7m would tune in for Friday?

Yeah i suppose to non BB11 viewers it will be interesting and funny, i still think it will be good but wont quite make the new as much as previous days. It would be pretty impressive if the people that watched the last two days came back on friday, then even more on +1 and we ended up getting 2m

I think BB will be kicking around for a few years yet it is growing year by year on C5. Just get rid of Summer CBB and focus on just 2 series a year and people will keep watching.

I don't think I will bother working it out because half of the officials don't include +1, so the official average so far will be very wrong. But if you want to look yourself, it's on the BB14 wiki page towards the bottom. It states there whether the rating includes +1 or not.

According to someone on DS. The show would need to get 1.18m nightly to get exactly the same average as BB13. Anything more than 1.18m on average a night, it will beat BB13. :)

And with officials adding a little more than BB13, it's looking likely. Assumptions that if it continues to get around 1.4m nightly, BB14 will average around 50k-100k higher than BB13.

BB13 average after 35 days was 1.78m officially
BB14 average after 25 days (with a lot of +1 figures missing)- 1.81m. With +1 added, BB14 is at around 1.85m incl +1 and this does not include this past weeks ratings.

#BigBrother last night averaged 1.62m/8.9% on Channel 5 (incl. +1), finishing third in its slot, behind BBC1 and ITV.

1.62m is not too bad at all. 2nd highest eviction, behind Sallie's. It beat Jemimas, the fake eviction and Wolfy's eviction.

Also:

Amongst 16-34 year old's #BigBrother won its slot for C5 with 441k/14.2%, with BBC1 in second place.

Not a bad rating for last night especially with the heat, i really expected it to drop being a Friday. It does seem to have held on to some of the viewers from the last week, just a shame the producers have to make it into a lively entertainment show every night to keep the viewers instead of having a normal BB, still, if it keeps the show on air it will do. can't really complain at 14 years for a tv show anyway

*mazedsalv**
20-07-2013, 10:32 AM

People are just more interested in celebrities because they have fans before. And more people tune in because some celebs that go in have a lot of twitter followers and it reaches new audiences. People that are fans of a celeb, but don't watch BB would watch if someone they follow goes in.

Put normal people on shows like Strictly and I'm a Celebrity and the ratings would fall by around 3m I think.

Brilliant climb last night, a growth of 200k. Last night got 1.59m including +1

As I expected, +1 got a large showing of 236k.

Meanwhile, Love/Hate flopped. It got 730k incl +1.

Also, don't want to jinx it, but so far, BB14 has failed to fall off a cliff in W6 (this week) like it did for BB12-BB13. This was the week last year where BB13 really dropped like a stone.

Also to sum up, BOTH BB12 and BB13 got 1.6m officially, so far this series (up until the last officials released) is officially averaging 1.82m. Not to mention that around 3 officials that will be released on Monday will be near or hit 2m, so that 1.82m can go to around 1.84m when the next batch of officials are counted.

Before W6, BB13 averaged 1.75m as a whole, between W6-10, it would drop to cause it to average 1.6m as a total.

I thought BB13 averaged 1.8? But thanks Salv, interesting post!

Apparently, Wiki is wrong, and a ratings expert has all the officials of every series and he mentioned to me in a post (around 15 times) that BB13 got 1.6m. He did come across a little rude and kept saying "Oh and by the way, it got 1.6m" throughout his long post, and seems confused why people thought it got 1.8m.

So far then, both BB12 and BB13 got 1.6m and BB14 so far is on 1.82m. Not bad for a show which launched at the lowest ever, eh?

Jake.
25-07-2013, 10:36 AM
Ah well that's disappointing for BB13 but yeah as you said, it's great how BB14 is averaging more when it launched with far less.

I bet C5 aren't very happy! Maybe they'll stick BB back on at 10 so they can put Love/Hate on at 9? Might increase the ratings a little.

I doubt C5 will obsess too much about one day's ratings. It is the average over the whole 10 weeks that they - and importantly advertisers and sponsors -will be interested in and which determines BB's future.

The future actually looks excellent. BB is one of C5'S flagships.

Im shocked ratings have held up so well.

I thought the task was quite interesting, at least it was something other than the triangle stuff. The last two nights were above average, but the 3 episodes before them were quite poor.

I think if this was any other week, the ratings would be down, I think people are tuning into this lie week to see the build up to tonight.

So, after tonight, got to hope something happens to keep the audience.

So far the ratings as a weekly average is still up on W2, 3 and 4. It is behind W1 and W5 though.

LF shows signs of rows brewing. Twins not liking Gina and how she told them to shut up last night and were bitching about her last night. Hazel/Dan/Twins think it's Gina and Dexter's fault that Hazel is disliked, etc... I think quite a lot can happen still.

Fingers crossed though! But to me, is it weird that it seems the ratings are higher for the duller episodes? Looking back at most of the W1 ratings (apart from launch and Sallie's eviction), ratings were around 1.35-1.40m incl +1, so it seemed to me the drama didn't really interest people with Sallie

Hopefully then.

If Dan goes tonight though over Those 2 bores that's gonna be a big blow to the show but I cant see anyone voting for Sam or Sophie.

What are they even going to use in their best bits.

I feel quite sorry for them actually lol theres gotta be nothing worse than spending 6 weeks in the most famous house in Britain and coming out to no one knowing you coz you get 2 minutes of airtime per episode.

If we are to believe that +1 usually adds around 70k, then last night would be around 1.52m (which would be up 10k on last Thursday).

Tonight I predict 1.65m incl +1. Last week got 1.62m, so I do expect a few more thousand tune in with this twist.

1.7m yes, great rating :) Still to find out what it was to another decimal point, because 1.7m is anywhere between 1.66m-1.74m.

It would make it the 2nd highest C5 rating for a regular eviction

Tashie BB12 Week 1, Sallie BB14 Week 1- 1.83m
Dan BB14 Week 6- 1.7m

Overall though this show has been a huge success for C5. With any luck that means its future could be secured well beyond 2014.
