It depends what bombshell will be dropped next week but the ratings could drop a little but hopefully will then pick up.
Overall though this show has been a huge success for C5. With any luck that means its future could be secured well beyond 2014.
We all expected them to drop after Dazelgate but they keep growing week on week.
Its weird because I have found the last week very dull yet the ratings have been better than the far more interesting episodes.

it's irrelevant what the ratings were for Dan's eviction. What happens after his eviction is critical. I am irate that BB did this stupid twist, to get out a fav HM --THE HOUSEMATE'S FAV (they wouldn't have nominated him)-- as if it would be exciting.
It's crap. People claim "I won't watch anymore" but probably will here and there (maybe on eviction night). But I WON'T --I REFUSE-- to watch the HL shows now that Dan has left. Only Dan, Dexter and Gina were intriguing... the rest are mimbos/bimbos... boring.
Watch the ratings plummet in the abyss now.
Well done, BB.

As I have said before it is the average ratings over the 10 weeks that will matter to advertisers and sponsors who are the main source of income for the show

It's crap. People claim "I won't watch anymore" but probably will here and there (maybe on eviction night). In this last week, in fact, over the last decade, I never missed a single BB HL show. If I couldn't make it in time, I caught the rerun on E4, and eventually DVR/tivo came out -- life was easy, never missed a show. But I WON'T --I REFUSE-- to watch the HL shows now that Dan has left. Only Dan, Dexter and Gina were intriguing... the rest are mimbos/bimbos... boring. I know for certain I won't watch because in this last week, I watched two HL shows off Youtube, so I could FF over most of it. I commented on how boring it has gotten this season and that if Dan got evicted, I'd quit watching altogether.
I'm not the only one who'll stop watching because 1/3 last interesting HMs left. Watch the ratings plummet into the abyss now.
Well done, BB.

I think some are forgetting that Dan was the most unpopular of the three housemates up for eviction..... Hence he got evicted!
Logic suggests that the ratings may now in fact go up since someone who is presumably regarded as an irritant has been voted out.

I remember seeing that awful part 1 launch rating and thinking ***** goodbye BB.
Then the 2nd launch was gutted for Emma and the team, you could tell she was bummed out.
But had a feeling ratings would climb and for the first time we have officials over 2 million for non launch nights.
Sallies eviction pretty much matched launch night.
All we need is it to stay like this for a good average and a pleased Channel 5 but it would be another massive bonus if the final got surprisingly high ratings (2.5 or something just to bump it up).

While Big Brother UK struggles to attract viewers, its African equivalent grows ever more popular. Now in its eighth season, it is the continent's biggest reality show.

Cant believe after 13 years people still think Saturday is just a repeat of the night before.
That task was hilarious and some of the biggest arguments have happened after evictions which get shown on a Saturday.

Optimistic - that's what I like to see on this forum, 1.45m-1.6m , the rating would fit comfortably in there for tonight, it's nice to see a gradual increase in the ratings as time goes on, at the start of the series we wouldn't dare predict a 1.5-1.6 rating, its good

Week 1 Saturday. That got 1.68m but yes, W4 is in 2nd at 1.66m.
Can't wait to see the officials tomorrow for the Daley/Hazel week. It starts off with the Monday it happened (1.69m) then the aftermath (1.77m), both should have hit 2m. Then the Sunday (last week) will be the last official released tomorrow (it got 1.68m), so that could be another 2m. We could see three 2m officials tomorrow.
Dan's eviction rating won't be released until next Monday but that should be a solid 2.1m official.

Yeah, we basically all feared the worst but it's proved that a series can still hold a strong percentage of viewers.. it's a shame the launches were lower than average but the fact that such a large amount stuck with is only a good thing

The launch may have got fewer viewers but it held over 2 million over 2 nights so it pretty much matches a larger launch figure when it comes to averages.
The fact we are getting evictions and highlights officially hitting almost the same rating as launch was unthinkable 6 weeks ago.
Some two millions in officials would be amazing - is it likely.
Also, yesterday's rating isn't bad. :)

Put things into perspective Sallies eviction got about 2.2 officially and the next lot of officials are looking like they will hit 2 million.
Compare them to the finale of the CBB10 which got 2.41 officially then its actually really impressive.
The finale rating will hopefully smash last years dismal 1.7 when Luke A won.

Some brilliant officials. 4 of them include +1, three do not. If anyone knows the +1 of the others, let us know!
Monday- 2.10m incl +1
Tuesday- 2.11m incl +1
Wednesday- 1.93m excl +1 (another 2m with +1 surely)
Thursday- 1.89m incl +1
Friday- 1.82m excl +1 (around 1.90m incl I would imagine)
Saturday- 1.38m excl +1 (around 1.45-1.47m with +1)

Over night averages for the series so far...
Week 1- 1.60m
Week 2- 1.32m
Week 3- 1.37m
Week 4- 1.42m
Week 5- 1.53m
Week 6- 1.50m
Week 7 so far- 1.51m
Daley's ejection was a great thing for the show it seems. Judging by how this week is doing, if tonight can grab 1.6m and Friday can get around 1.7m, it should surpass W5 and become the 2nd highest week after W1.
It's great to see a growth of 200k from W2 to now, when usually it goes the other way round. BB13 dropped during W6, but BB14 looks like it is going strong still.

The week average so far is 1.52m (up from last weeks 1.50m), W5 was a 1.53m, come on, would be great to beat! If it does, W7 would be the highest since W1 (1.60m). Even though W1 did quite poorly, it was the launch ratings that helped it, otherwise W1 would have averaged around 1.3m.

Disappointing rating for last nights show.
1.21m (5.3%) at 9pm (225k/1.4%).
1.43 Including +1
Have been expecting it to slump since Daleygate but impressively they rose and grew week on week.
Southcliffe premiered to 1.88m (8.2%) viewers at 9pm (289k/1.8%) on Channel 4 (2.16m with +1) which dented it slightly I think due to all the promotion.
Officials should be good for previous weeks released today a few may hit 2 million+ I think.
Hopefully its a blip but have a feeling ratings will decrease seeing as last week was just boring and Sundays episodes have typically been the highest rated this series.

Depends how this next week rates.
I think a lot of people are getting a bit bored now most of the bigger characters have left.
It is at risk of losing viewers in the final 2 weeks but hopefully people will stick with it and we can get a finale of over 2 million.
If it continues with getting over 1.5 in the week I don't see why it shouldn't break the 2m mark.

Last years celeb series launched with 2.7 up 1 million on BB13' final so if anything the ratings for CBB this year should be higher.
Hope it fails to be honest and they axe it.
Waste of money paying those celeb fees twice a year.
One in January is a nice little fix until the normal BB starts.

The final in the C4 years was always rated higher than the average of the séries. Yet the same doesn't happen in C5. If they focused on promoting it a lot instead of promoting CBB, or at least promote the two together we could have a 2.5M final.

Big Brother continued with 1.51m (8.7%)
I think this is excluding plus 1.

Hopefully excluding that way it would be close to 1.6.
I am shocked how high the ratings are at this stage.
This time last year the officials where 1.6 lol never mind the overnights.

I'm genuinely so shocked at how the ratings have ended up this series. Following launch night I was convinced we'd be down to 1.2m per night at the very most with a whole load of sub-1ms. Glad to see I was wrong, though I have no idea how this happened!

If this series had launched with 2.7 like last year we would be looking at a 2 million + average by now I think.
Just worried the finale rating will be low seeing as its on a Monday and split in 2 parts.
I imagine they've done it to make some time to promote CBB in the week seeing as CBB10 pretty much flopped.

I don't see how they can do that when theres an hour between them.
Confusing.
If they add them together it wont mean say if part 1 got 2.2 then part 2 got 1.2 that wouldn't make 3.4. They would just have to put the 2 together and make an average which would be lower.

Yeh i'm pleasantly surprised after the low launch figures, and average/poor week 2 ratings.
Really has improved. Ben Frow also said some of the older fans from the C4 era are returning. If they can stay hooked then obviously the show's gunna be rating higher.
The live feed on the web probably helped somewhat aswell.
I'm relived for the show and for Ben Frow, he laid alot on the line with the cutting, and immediate changes he made to save the show. It's definately worked. Eviction night's feel alot more like event T.V. With Brian it was almost a self promoting dating VT.
My only criticism would be if it could throw in abit more of the fun factor, i reckon it would appeal to even more.
Columinst's from leading media outlet's like the mirror and the sun, have really praised the format this summer.
10.6% audience share is very impressive for England's 5th channel...

Tbf they had an excuse, the Olympics and Euro 2012 did hurt them badly.
I think last year's series would've got the same as this year if it was a non-Olympic and also a non-Euro 2012 year.
If the Olympics and Euro 2012 were on this year, no way we would be seeing these ratings.

Big Brother could have moved the highlights show easily to not clash with Euro 2012, and the Olympics only went on for a couple of weeks and C5 could have predicted the huge viewers at certain times. And I think the Olympics was over by 10PM.

launch night figures where down due to the key-fact that they decided to only advertise on there own channel and no others i think channel 5 where just testing it, it worked out bad for launch but word of mouth spread out and figures are on the up well when theres dramas.

With only 12 days left (flown by) its safe to say BB ratings are going to stay steady.

Pleased ratings are stable, although the series definitely does not deserve it, what with the bad tasks, childlike editing, outside contact reaching an all time low with housemates and their family members, extreme nomination manipulation, favouritism, vote to evict, boring housemates, someone like Sam potentially winning, etc.
It's obviously what the general viewing public likes though..... as opposed to BB puritans, for whom any change from the very early years of the show is anathema!

:worship: This series had so much potential  It seemed like they were taking the show in an entirely new direction and going back to basics, but they just drove it into the ground way more than even BB12 or BB13. I'd disagree about the housemates being boring. I think we had a fantastic lineup and if they had just been left to their own devices we could have had a great show.

and how are housemates amazing? Sam, Sophie???
How does a link to a small thread with 7 replies prove im being delusional? LOL
And yes the housemates have been amazing you cant judge the whole casting based on 2 bores....Obviously every year has a few boring ones.
To be honest though Sam and Sophie (Sophie especially) have shown they have fiery sides the last week. You have basically judged them on not making the edit.
The characters in the house have all been very different to each other this year as apposed to previous Channel 5 series where most were pretty much under 25 and good looking.
Before attacking me try getting better examples to back up your opinions not just post a link to a tiny little thread that does in no way represent the opinion of the majority of this forum.
Any way this is the ratings thread so lets not clutter it up with off topic crap spouting.
The consistent increase in ratings says it all.

In only the last five minutes I have found all these posts stating the show has gone boring. And I as I said in the other thread ratings do not equate to quality. Honestly the biggest storylines of this series are to do with showmances, and its full of bad editing, outside contact, bad tasks, manipulation etc. but You keep burying your head though and ignore the valid points I'm making.
Like I said.
This is the ratings thread so I aint going to troll it and go off topic anymore.
Big Brother 14 ratings have shown a big increase and for the first time since 2010 the highlight shows and evictions have hit 2 million + so people are obviously enjoying this series.
Conversation over.

No it only got
1.28 (6.1%)
+1 (201K)
1.48. Including + 1
Didn't expect a drop like that, down 80k on last weeks but a big +1 rating.
People seem to forget its on at 9pm on a Wednesday because Channel 5 move it to accommodate Love/Hate which is a massive flop! Its a shame because last night was a brilliant episode.

It's a disappointing rating, I just hope that it's because it was on at 9pm. I don't want the viewers to drop now with such few days to go before the final, it'd be rubbish to see the average drop now.

Jake.
08-08-2013, 03:21 PM
What does audience reach mean?
The % or 000s of a target audience who have viewed for a defined period.
e.g. A 1+ reach is the total of the target audience who have viewed for at least a minute – shown as either a % or in 000s
