Day totally handled Julia herself in the right way by acting like she was tipping her off in her best interest, but from there she should've worked on trying to get some alliance with Jason and Austin and Vanessa in order to protect Liz so then they'd have and extra ally after the fifth eviction.

Where it really went wrong was that right after Day had that convo with Julia, she went over to James and was coaching him on questions to ask during the podcast that night. She warned her but still wanted her to get blown up for whatever reason. It makes no sense. If she just let it be after her talk with Julia then Jeff would've come off like the cocky aggressor (which he is, he so credits himself for figuring out the twins in his own mind) and that would've just secured Day's bond with Julia and they could've worked from there to build a shield alliance.
