I just have no idea what tory voters think the country is heading towards. I mean, conservatives are supposed to want to conserve, but we've seen 12 years of nothing but destruction. The NHS, libraries, services, living standards.
The worst thing is that Boris faces absolutely no pressure to do the right thing as the right wing media rushes to his aide.
He'll win the next election, too, and that's when this proto-fascist government becomes really dangerous.

Peston is normally highly critical of the government, didn't see the comments you're referring to but there was only one significant Tory voice against Boris in that debate this afternoon which was Mark Harper
if boris had made a mess of ukraine, it would have been a different story, but he has done a lot to drum up support worldwide for them, and thats saved his ass for now. The local elections i thought would be a better test, but there really arent many elections in england so i dont think that will force anything either

He couldn't even give us clear direction,if he wanted to save lives then he would have lived by example, and he would have put us in full lockdown earlier than he did. And he would have waited until we were over the worst to lift restrictions.
He's handled COVID in such a shambolic way. He's never cared about this pandemic ,and he's never taken it seriously from day 1.

Oh wow great... If your car needed nothing done you saved £40 for the year, because an MOT itself is NOT EXPENSIVE. If it was going to cost you £300 because work needs ded done you get the joy of driving around in an unsafe car for 12 months. Or... Missing an issue that would have been a cheap fix, which six months later develops into a larger more expensive fault. Good job.
The government once again offering nonsense chicken feed to solve cost of living issues that reach into the thousands of pounds. How does not having to spend £40 a ywar on an MOT for your car even put a dent in having to spend an extra £40 a *month* on fuel for that car? Or a £150 council tax rebate to help tackle a £1000 energy bill? It's just utter nonsense. They're so detached from reality that they think saying "this saves families £100 a year!" means something.
its a pretty random method of reducing expense and one that could lead to significantly more deaths on the road. Why not just reduce peoples energy bills directly, end of

One less way for garages to rip off motorists
i do think mot's were more relevant in years gone by when cars used to corrode really badly from 2 years old and brakes were pre servo assisted etc. The tech is much more reliable now. However without checks, it leaves the door open for abuse

Prof Stephen Toope says universities need

i don't think the party stuff had any effect and no matter what the outcome is of the police investigation into starmer, labour have lost the moral high ground, so it will be business as usual again shortly

Really ?
You may well be correct as my knowledge ( and interest ) of politics is rather limited..
I just feel that Starmer and his cronies have spent the last two years criticising and undermining Boris ( especially the last few months with the parties ) mostly unjustified from what I’ve seen as well .
I’m only surprised that the Tories haven’t resorted to using the same tactics given how painfully inept and ineffective the opposition have been .

So why has he offered to resign if he is fined, as he is adamant no rules were broken, and imo he wont be fined or resign, lol as he is big pals with the police comissioner who is a Labour supporter,so it wont happen.

Does he think that will shame the PM into resigning? No chance, he can resign for me, seems they're lining Rayner up anyway.
