they need to streamline the leadership contest ready for the next one at Christmas

For starters no one should be able to vote until all the hustings are out of the way

It should be condensed to a four week format

they are planning on Boris returning and quite honestly I can see him back as PM ready to fight the next election

I don't think myself there is a large number who'd want him back as leader again.

The baggage he has remains, I'd also feel pretty sure this independent public investigation into the pandemic is going to be very critical of his dealing with same.

I have next to no doubt he will not be quiet and from behind the scenes he may well be king or Queen maker even working against Truss if he decides to do another u turn of his allegiances.

However, if she loses big in the next election which I still don't see yet myself, I don't think she can turn it around now enough to win but she could lose only moderately .
If the loss was big, then the Cons are in the same place they were when Johnson was forced out.
With no real standout candidate.
Then it may be possible they'd look at turning to Johnson again to try to bring things back to winning a general election after such a loss.

Which is another reason why I hope Starmer and Labour will adopt a PR policy for elections.
Which yes, would ensure Labour couldn't ever likely govern alone again.
However the prize being the Cons would have to drop all its extreme elements and also would not ever be able to govern alone again.
With grossly inflated overall majorities for a minority of voters votes cast.

Truss as PM, absolutely horrific. And that dreadful 'speech' she made was both embarrassing and as flat as a pancake.

Every time I look at her I see a complete idiot. I doubt she will last a year. And I am being generous. Her cutting tax policy is a total disaster and does not address helping the poor and low paid in this country.

She makes Theresa May look charismatic. And I rather hear nails going down a blackboard than hear Truss' boring voice.

His success and immediate resignation of his near-absolute authority with the end of this crisis (traditionally dated to 458 BC) has often been cited as an example of outstanding leadership, service to the greater good, civic virtue, humility, and modesty.

For once I'll try and show a Tory PM some support, especially considering she stopped Rishi getting in.

Hopefully she can fix not just the issues ahead with the energy bills, but the ongoing issue that we have with homelessness, and lack of Prison space in Prisons, because personally I want Dr. Kiddyfiddler to stay in jail.

Correct but

Jacob Rees-Mogg, the minister who will oversee the UK’s energy and climate strategy in Liz Truss’s cabinet, has long been dismissive of the looming catastrophe of global warming.

The controversial minister, who has been appointed to the role of secretary of statement for business, energy and industrial strategy, has dismissed climate science as “alarmism” and criticised the closure of coal-fired powers station.

Regarding the mini budget, I've said it before but I'll say it again: the tax cutting policy will be a massive costly mistake.

It's a horrific policy.

[Liz Truss's radio roadshow

The PM endured a torrid round
of BBC local radio interviews this
morning.
She faced hard questions with presenters
often presenting questions and criticism
from readers struggling with
the cost-of-living crisis:

LEEDS

The first question to the PM was
'where have you been?'
She went on to say: 'We had to take urgent
action to get our economy growing,
get Britain moving and also deal with inflation.
'Of course that means taking
controversial decision but I am
prepared to do that as Prime Minister.'

NORFOLK

The PM said it was 'really important'
the Government 'took action quickly'
to 'reduce the tax burden and get
the economy going'.
She is also a Norfolk MP and was asked
about when King's Lynn would get
a new hospital.

KENT

Questions for the Prime Minister from
BBC Radio Kent listeners included
'What on earth were you thinking?',
'How can we ever trust the Conservatives
with our economy again?'
and 'Are you ashamed of what you've done?',
the show's presenter said.
Asked if she will reverse the policies
unveiled in the mini-budget,
Prime Minister Liz Truss replied:
'I don't accept the premise of the question.'

LANCASHIRE

The PM faced fewer questions on the
economy and more on fracking,
which has taken place in Lancashire.
Her government has lifted the moratorium
on drilling despite fears of earthquakes.
She said: 'We will only press ahead with
fracking in areas where there is local
community support for that.
The UK has become dependent on global
energy prices.
We have seen through Vladimir Putin's
appalling war in Ukraine how energy
prices have shot up and Russia has
used the fact that it produces gas
as a way of exerting pressure on
other countries.'

NOTTINGHAM

Ms Truss said it was 'simply not true' when
asked by BBC Radio Nottingham whether
her mini-budget was a 'reverse Robin Hood'
that disproportionately benefited the most wealthy.
Asked how she was creating a fairer tax system,
Liz Truss told BBC Radio Nottingham:
'The reality is, people having lower taxes
across the board - everything from
national insurance to corporation
tax to income tax - helps everybody because
it helps grow the economy.
It's not necessarily popular to keep
corporation tax low but I want
to make sure we do because I want
to make sure we attract investment
into this country.'

TEES

Ms Truss was told about a listener, Diane,
who has had to sell her house of 25 years
due to the cost-of-living crisis.
The Prime Minister was asked how tax
cuts for the wealthiest would help
people like Diane, and replied:
'Well, we are cutting taxes across the
board because we were facing the highest tax
burden on Britain for 70 years and that
was causing a lack of economic growth,
and without growth we don't get the investment,
we don't get the jobs we need,
which helps local communities
right around the country.
We're also reversing the increase in
national insurance.
We're also reducing the basic rate.
So we're reducing taxes across the
board, because the tax burden
was too high.'

BRISTOL

The PM was asked: 'I thought you believed
in sound money, or have you changed your
mind about that like you did about Brexit?'

STOKE

The PM was asked: 'Have you taken the keys
of the country and crashed the economy?'
She replied: 'I've taken decisive action to deal
with the very difficult situation the country
and the world is facing.']

She's totally deluded.

In better economic times her policy would have more merit.
However not now, she can't answer correctly the questions put to her.
She actually doesn't even try to address them.

Her delusion is growing sadly.
Definitely there's no real PM material across the leadership of the Parties at present.
However she most assuredly is the absolute WORST of the lot.

No wonder she's seen as being untrustworthy.
Hopeless, totally hopeless.

Scotland's first minister has said she has still not had a phone call with Liz Truss more than a month after she became prime minister.

Nicola Sturgeon told the BBC it was "absurd" and "unprecedented" that she had yet to hear from the new PM.

Ms Sturgeon had talks with Theresa May and Boris Johnson within days of them being appointed.

Ms Truss branded Ms Sturgeon as an "attention seeker" who was best ignored during the Tory leadership contest.

Speaking to BBC political editor Chris Mason ahead of the SNP conference in Aberdeen, Ms Sturgeon said that other than "an exchange or two" between the two leaders at events following the death of the Queen, there had been no formal contact.

She added: "I don't know whether that is arrogance, lack of respect or insecurity or whatever it is. It's not the right way to do government in a grown up way.

"So I hope we will see a change. I'll do my best to work with Liz Truss as constructively as possible or whoever comes after because we can't take anything for granted in UK politics these days."

In a separate interview with BBC Scotland, she described the lack of a phone call as "unprecedented", adding: "It's not just me. When I spoke to him in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago it was the same for (Welsh first minister) Mark Drakeford.

"I spoke to David Cameron when I became first minister within hours. I spoke to Theresa May and Boris Johnson shortly after they became prime minister. For reasons best known to herself Liz Truss hasn't engaged with the devolved administrations."

A spokesman for Mr Drakeford, also confirmed he had not had a call from Liz Truss either and said there was "nothing scheduled."

Mr Drakeford had also spoken to Mr Johnson and Mrs May shortly after they each became prime minister.
