I managed to fix the lack of e-mail notifications

I changed the e-mail address used by the TiBB system from my beeb.net address to another ISP

For some reason Beeb somehow blocks TiBB notifications :conf:

I have some great news ...... have been away checking out the 'Compulsory Purchase Order' that Sticks passed on. Turns out the major company involved have withdrawn their interest in the premises and are looking elsewhere to site their business venture. AND the landlord has just extended our lease on Boris's Bar for at least another 5 years! :hello: :elephant: :colour:

Time to celebrate ............................

Amy
03-05-2005, 11:45 AM
I'm sad so I looked to see why it was called Dr Pepper and it does not actually say why! It just says....

"The Most Misunderstood Soft Drink." Waco is the home of the Dr Pepper (formerly called a "Waco"). Inside the museum are exhibits on the "Old Corner Drug Store" where Dr Pepper was invented by Dr. Charles Alderton in 1885.

Boris's is closed today

Due to a small fire at the designated polling station in this cyber constituency we have been commendeered as a make shift polling station.

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40088000/jpg/_40088732_pollingstation6649.jpg

As a result all sales of alcoholic drinks have been prohibited. The coffee bar has also been suspended pending a ruling from the acting returning officer - but don't hold your breath

Sorry guys, I thought I was doing everyone a service by opening up the coffee bar early for the going to work trade. When the original venue for the polling station became unavailable, as we were open, we got commandeered.

One asked about compensation for loss of trade, but the expression "in your dreams" was used, but less polite.

Thank god the bars back was getting withdrawl symptoms!

So anyway, have to tell you all this as it's funny and it could only happen to my Dad! We went to vote on Thursday at our local community centre! They usually have the polling station in the main hall but that night they had it in a side room. Anyway, my Dad goes marching in towards the main hall and my Mum says " where are you going?" he says "To vote" she says " what in slimming world" I could not stop laughing he'd walked straight in to slimming world to make his vote :laugh::laugh:

The joy of postal voting is stuff like that does not happen to me

Any hue, the assessors have decided that normal premises normally used as a polling station will take about 5 months to repair, once the insurance details have been decided.

All of which means that Borris Bar wil be closed next Thursday due to the local cyber space council bye-election, following the resignation of the former office holder.

Puts official notice in Kaz's pigeon hole

Cheers, Sticks. Bl**dy politicians!

Thankfully, I've managed to have a word with Reg from the Council and explained how disappointed our customers were that Boris's would have to close again, especially as trade was so brisk just now. He's very kindly agreed that it wouldn't be fair to do it again so soon, so he'll be commandeering the Dog & Duck round the corner to use for the bye-election. And they'll rotate round all the other local hostelries after that. What a nice man.

Sorry but during polling day we were not allowed even to do that. The stock take instruction came from the accountants, just after Kaz jeft to see them. As you must expect we were therefore under staffed.

Just waiting for the all clear from the accountants before we can start trading again, which seems bizzar.

SO sorry about last night, folks. Damn Accountants!

I'm so busy dealing with all the administrative stuff in Boris's absence that it's just impossible for me to be behind the bar full-time now. :bawling:

As Hooley's decided not to continue with his trial period as Barman, I'm looking for a reliable, trustworty person to serve behind the bar when I'm not around. Any takers for the position of Bartender? :spin2:

The pay's not great, I'm afraid, but the clientelle are lovely! :dazzler:

In the meantime, Boris's is open for business as usual! :xyxwave:

Sticks
14-05-2005, 02:55 PM
In the meantime our suppliers have been stopping supplies, requesting we regulise our accounts and then pay in advance :conf:

Sorry but we may not be able to open tonight as the electric company just shut off our supply. The guy was not to clear why, it was either the account was closed or the bill is unpaid or we are to be put on to a key system.

The Boiris Bar credit card for the cash and carry has been stopped

All credit to Boris Bar has been stopped.

I thought we were all on top of things, I know from our accounts in the coffee shop we have been paying in our fair whack, but it all seems to have gone into a massive financial black hole.:bawling:

Kaz
14-05-2005, 03:39 PM
Don't panic, it's all under control! Why do you think I was away so long at the Accountants yesterday!

Seems they made a stupid computer error when dealing with the Bank and and diverted all Borris's Bar takings to the wrong account. They've apologised profusely and had the Bank correct this straight away, so we now have an extremely healthy bank balance. They also contacted all the suppliers and cash & carry outlets to explain, and had our credit reinstated immediately. So it's business as usual.

As for the electricity supply, I've shifted that to a different, cheaper company. They arrived 10 minutes ago to reconnect us, so we're ready and raring to go! :hello:

Just you concentrate on the Coffee Bar, Sticks ..... I've got everything else well in hand.

Thanks Kaz

I'm just happy to get back to the coffee shop.

Have just taken an order of some oreos :colour:

Tried some excelent Dutch coffee, and we now have on order a mini freezer for storing ice cream.

Some visiting Americans sugested instead of milk or cream in coffee, a scoop of just plain vanila ice cream. Cornish Ice cream works better and it does work. Try it for your self.

If banks make errors like this one, I would suggest we look to see if we can get a better deal, but that is just me.

That's one espresso machine out of commission for a while

The valve regulating the steamer has sheared off completely.

It seems odd that it should break like this, looking at the bit that came off, there looks like marks suspiciously like tool marks. Perhaps I ought to mention that the other week a rival coffee chain asked if they could pay me to shut down and go away. When I said over my dead body, there was some mutterings about being careful what I wished for. I thought it was related to the recent problems concerning Boris Bar and the banking problems.

I will just have to bring the new one on stream a little earlier, and perhaps we could have some CCTV survelance over here.

Looks like we may have coffee wars instead of Bar Wars
