The New ‘BB’ !

Everybody’s heard of ‘Cheers’,
The Boston bar that sold those beers,
The people there who came and went,
Spending money – sometimes the rent.

Well now it seems WE need a place,
Where anyone can show their face,
For ‘winding down’ and ‘chilling out’,
For chatting and a jovial shout,
To tell their troubles,
Share some fun,
When trials of the day are done.

So welcome to the new ‘BB’,
Where I hope you’ll all be pleased to see,
Friend BORIS standing by the pump,
Your host, your barman…that made you jump !

So take a glass of wine with me,
A sip of cider, sup of beer;
Gin or whiskey, make you frisky,
A drop of rum to warm your tum.

Or Adam’s ale if you prefer,
Martini that you shake not stir,
Juice of apple, orange, grape,
All will help you keep in shape.

The ‘Kiss of Death’ has gone at last,
To ‘Boris’s Bar’ you all must pass.
I’d thought to call it ‘Sailors Rest’,
But the ‘Barmy Army’ though it best,
To NOT exclude them from the fun,
For they’ve been loyal troops each one.

So now to meet at Boris’s bar,
However you travel however far,
We’ll meet up here come rain , come shine,
And have ourselves a…
RIGHT GOOD TIME !

Cheers one and all .
See you here tomorrow !

Oooh how exciting, a new thread is born
It doesn't leave us time to mourn
The "Kiss of Death", so that deserves a cheer
And while I'm at it, make mine a beer!

Thank goodness Kaz. I really can't cope what with the 'day' job and moomlighting as a babysitter I really need a trusty hand like you around. SO.... bar manager you are. As for that Lee ... it would seem a I do need an entertainments manager so she is duly enrolled on the workforce.

BTW Sticks I think you must have gone to some other 'BB' by mistake. The first picture you posted WAS correct but the second....well i think someone must have 'spiked' your drink and you took a wrong turning but...

Boris has returned by car,
And now is standing by the bar,
She'll get you what you want to drink,
Just take it easy have a think,
Soft or hard, Sweet or sour,
Trimmed with fruit or even a flower....( Pimms anyone? )
And now to start that

HAPPY HOUR !

Got a bit bored today after completing my third brief to Counsel of the day so came up with this little Ode hope you like it.

Ode to Boris's Bar

Boris’s Bar is the place to be seen
Its members only; those outside are green
They stand aghast with their nose to the glass
Who are those people inside, they’re having a blast

We sit inside us chosen few
We walk straight in, no hint of a queue
Boris is there to greet her guests
There’s fun to be had with lots of jests

The décor was chosen with plenty of care
With loads of tables and many a chair
There are pictures that cover each and every wall
Of housemates from BBs both short and tall.

There’s everyone who appeared on BB1 to 4
But there’s always space for a few pics more
We have our favourites but all have their space
On the walls of fame they all have their face

We sit and look and reminisce
Do you remember that Mr and Miss
What did you video? Do you still have the tapes?
The laughter, the rows, and all of the japes

The tv/video in the corner is always on
We’re up to BB3 – oh good its gone!
Its time for requests what do you want to see
The most popular extract is what it’ll be

The waiters and waitresses make their merry way
With chips and burgers, be it night and day
A vodka and tonic, a glass of wine
That one’s yours and this is mine.

So Boris’s Bar’s the place to be
It’s open each day from five past three
Its members are varied, the age range wide
New members are welcome, come in don’t hide.

A grand opening should be held with guests galore
Several housemates could come – our spirits would soar
Now who should it be, who should we invite
I know who I’d chose, oh what a night.

But perhaps this bar should be our secret place
For the favoured few with joy on their face
If you love BB you’re welcome here
So come on in and have a beer.

Boris
17-11-2003, 06:04 PM
It’s open each day from five past three

Don;t know who gave you the opening hours my dear but we are definately a 24 hour service here....BTW I liked the 'ode' !

Now then ,

There's work to do so I must away,
But Kaz is in charge you hear me say,
From break of dawn 'till end of day,
She'll give you 'whatever' if you just pay.....
(Errrr.... I hope you don't misunderstand me !!!!)

We don't come cheap here except at 'Happy hour' !

Let's just hope that England soundly thrash Australia (sorry Skip) at the week-end. That might make up for last night.

I shant be joining the festivities at the bar because OH and son have banned me from watching live. They say I havent watched any of the other matches and England have one - so I will have to make do with listening to the 'comments' being made downstairs.

Well perhaps I could sneak in and stay in the back room doing the washing up, would that count as 'watching' - still mustnt put a jinx on them.

I'll just join in the celebrations afterwards. Think you had better order in several crates of Champers Boris - not the cheap stuff mind - Crystal all round methinks.

Anything special planned for the bar this evening? I'm sitting here all by myself - been deserted by the family who had their evening meal and then had the cheek to disappear - the nerve of it.

So I think I'll pop in for some convivial company with like minded individuals - plus a glass or two of wine would go down well. Anyone going to join me?

A normal evening for you then Stowford !
I have had your seat by the bar ready and waiting since opening night, but it has taken you a long time to 'drop in'.

Maybe it is the Rugby that has put you off, I seem to remember that cricket is more in your line.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Whose this then Boris. I should like to know cos as I shall be helping out in the back room tomorrow whilst the Rugby is on so I cant jinx England I shall be working with this new chef.

Hope its not Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsay. Jamie would drive me mad and Gordon would shout at me.

Can the chefs cope??

Boris
22-11-2003, 10:31 AM
Foolish question blinkinlovely. All that and more. The question is........

How do you want it presented?

All on one big plate?

A series of small plates?

With or without cutlery?

Is it for you only or will you share it with a friend so that you can pour out your heart about your problems whist eating? ( I have a friend who lets me do that .... absolutely priceless. I would give her my last Malteser only she is on a diet at the moment and wouldn't eat it !)

Let me know just WHAT you want and I will tell chef.( only toruble is he is watching the RUGBY right now so you might have to wait.

Well I did as ordered by OH and son and kept well away from the TV during the match thus making sure that

ENGLAND WON!

Hope you all enjoyed the sterling work that me and that rather tasty chef of yours Boris did in the kitchen this morning - did you enjoy your full English breakfasts washed down with Bucks Fizz?

He did tell me that he has something very special planned for tonight in celebration - he did mumble something about a very chocolatey, alcoholic cake with an appropriate inscription. Plus champage cocktails.

He will have to manage alone tonight though cos I feel I deserve to be allowed out into the big wide world.

Sorry about the small fire, it was due to 'someone' getting over excited and dropping alcohol on to a naked flame. OHHHHHHHH

Boris

I'm the featherweight of lightweights when it comes to drink Boris. More than several pints and the vision gets blurry, the legs wobble, the speech undecipherable and lots of hugging strange people I don't know ensues :spin2:. So it's orange and lemonade from now on please barman. 'Hic'.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say Chris will win Pop Idol this year. For several weeks he's put in a bad performance and been criticised by the judges, he has received a high share of the votes cast. He is a very good singer, and obviously the girls like him. In the end it will be between Chris and Sam.

Can I apply for the vacant space at the end of the bar? I fancy myself as a 'Norm' type character whom everyone greets with bonhomie as I waddle into the place on a nightly basis.

Can I apply for the vacant space at the end of the bar?

Sorry ROB. I am afraid that that particular space is MINE in between serving the regulars when the bar manager does not turn up which seems to be every day ! She is heading for the 'sack' I am afraid.
You may have the space next to it. Of course everyone can reserve a 'special ' seat at my bar....and yes it is a bar whatever others might be inferring. The 'special' seats can be reserved by buying a season ticket - just like at the football !!! I am always happy to make a ready buck or two:thumbs:

Mrs. O'Leary, you are dressed for the job suggested and may start immediately . Well done that woman.

I am ready for a stiff drink myself. Mr. Boris and I bought a sofa to go with the 2 recliner chairs we already had.....nothing is easy. They have not delivered the slightly scuffed one we saw in the showroom as arranged, but a brand new one and it is a different colour. The one we saw was dark navy. The invoice says it is black( that is how dark it looked in the showroom) the one delivered is a brightish French blue. As an 'arty' type person I carry colours well in my head and this is NOT the one I saw even allowing for bad lighting ! I almost GIVE UP !
Oh well i suppose i could put it in the 'snug' where the chosen few can fight over it !!! LOL:laugh:

Afternoon all - glad my favourite stool was free for my lunchtime drinkie poo.

Back to work today - cold but the sun is shining - why couldnt it have been like this yesterday when me and OH spent two hours plus standing in the rain and cold. Still that hot toddy I had in THE BAR last night did the trick and warmed the cockles of my heart.

Glad to hear that my 'special' receipt has the desired effect on the 'cockles of your heart' Busy Bee.

Must admit to being a trifle worried about my livlihood though. You were my only customer today and last night they were pretty thin on the ground. perhaps it was my trying to sell 'season tickets ' for the bar stools. But a gilr does have to earn a living somehow. If things don;t look up I will be bankrupt !!!!!

Ooh congrats on the move date Kaph, you're seems to be going a little more smoothly than mine. Myself and my buyer both desperately want to move before Christmas, but the people at the bottom of the chain are digging their heals in and are saying they are not moving before January full stop.

We're still hoping to exchange this week, but I don't think I am actually going to be able to move until the New Year now - 8th Jan is the date being bandied around at present.

Still I suppose it does give me chance to do a few things to the house before I move as it is empty at the mo and I can have keys as soon as we exchange so at least I will have time to get it re-carpeted etc etc - I was looking forward to being up there for Christmas though but it is not to be.

Isn't it just such a pain having to rely on other people when you're moving house?! Still 8th Jan doesn't sound too bad - new year, new house!

I know, the trouble is I have budgetted down to the nth degree and it all worked perfectly up to the end of December, having it go on into January has screwed up the cashflow and its a real pain. I have absolutely NO MONEY whatsoever for christmas because of this and it's soooooo annoying.

Still, at least it is all happening this time.

It must be catching these house moving problems - the chap who has the office next door is also having problems desperate to move before Christmas but his buyer is having problems with finance so no go. He's got a little one too so they dont know what is happening for Christmas - they packed all his pressies away for the move and now it looks like they will have to get it out.

Never mind just think of all the Christmas parties we can have in Boris's which will take your mind off things. We could invite a few guests along just to make things go with a whirl. And just think of New Year's Eve in our own little bar - arent we spoilt. You'll soon forget the house move.

PS Glad you loved Love Actually Big Sister - I've already decided to get it when it comes out on DVD. I thought Bill Nighy was absolutely stonking.

Just had one of chef's specials - rather tasty. Think I'll just have a Bacardi and Coke to wash it down. First day back at work deserves a treat. All those clients expecting moi to know what has been going on when I have been in my poorly sick bed. What do they think I am psychic.

I'm sure there's a rebate Boris can apply for however much the rates go up = after all she is offering an essential service to a very important section of society - the TIBB Barmy Army need a nice, homely, friendly bar in which to relax and where better than here. Otherwise the Town Hall may find itself the subject of an invasion of an irate section of society - after all there are still some TIBB banners around and we can make up a few more. The Army will declare war and there can be only one outcome.

We will fight them on the Town Hall steps, we will fight them in the Council Chamber, we will fight them in the streets - we will win - no-one comes between the Army and their Bar.

Oh dear I better go and sit down with a large glass of something.

They were really polite and enjoyed the Caffe Lates and the new bacon egg and mushroom paninis. They said they may drop in sometime for their Winter Solstice party and asked if they could book a function room.

It seems we are getting a reputation as the only bar that doubles up as a coffee house as well

A visit from Hells Angels - who next?

Just goes to show what happens when an establishment such as Boris's Bar opens - word soon gets around.

Maybe that we will have to make it a members only Club - cant have our regulars being turned away cos its full.

Would you like some more of my muffins for morning coffees?

Will be in for my restorative glass of wine later.

Limps in looking as though gone through a few rounds with Mike Tyson

Excuse the mess, but a couple of skinheads pushed in when the coffee bar was opened and stole the takings from the night before. As it was a slow night last night the takings were not what they were expecting and hence got up set.

One mentioned that this would not have happened if the protection fee had been paid.

Any clues ?
