Actress Kate Ford is set to return to Coronation Street as Tracy Barlow.

This spring, we will see Tracy in prison where she'll become embroiled in a story involving another well loved character.

Ken and Deirdre's only daughter is currently serving a jail sentence for murdering her boyfriend and Corrie bad boy Charlie Stubbs.

After this initial first stint of a couple of months, Tracy will be back in Weatherfield again at the end of the year.

thats the only relaistic thing really

Scarlett.
04-01-2010, 06:25 PM
I dont mind it being unrealistic, the show needed something like this to happen, it has been stuck in the dumps for years, the last really good year was 2006

BigSister
04-01-2010, 06:28 PM
maybe when it all comes out it will make sense as its quite confusing

Scarlett.

Indeed, Emmerdale managed to blag Cain back into the show, even with him wanted for murder and kidnap xD

but look at the replys to the thread, it has got people excited about Corrie again :D

It'd be cool if the person Tracey got involved with was another character who was sent to prison, maybe Tony?

Scarlett.
05-01-2010, 01:29 AM
That'd be cool :D only thing is...I think prisons do not allow mixing of sexes (for pretty obvious reasons :p)

Actress Kate Ford is to reprise her role as Coronation Street superbitch Tracy Barlow in the spring, it has been confirmed.

The 32-year-old returns to filming in March and will reappear on screen in the middle of the year when she becomes embroiled in another 'much-loved' character's storyline from prison.

Following an initial two-month stint, Tracy will return to Weatherfield full-time by the close of the year, in time for the show's 50th anniversary.

A Corrie spokesperson this morning told DS: "2010 is going to be a very exciting year for Coronation Street and Tracy's return will affect many people on the street - not just the Barlows."

In the soap, Tracy is currently serving a 15-year sentence after being found guilty of murdering her boyfriend Charlie Stubbs (Bill Ward).

Since her trial and final prison scenes, she has been referenced numerous times in scripts by her parents Ken and Deirdre Barlow and Steve McDonald, the father of her child Amy.

Last month, it was announced that Corrie's leading producer Kim Crowther is to step down from her position in the summer ahead of the soap's golden anniversary. Former Doctor Who producer Phil Collinson will take the reigns following her departure.

Scarlett.

Same here, she was brilliant, though I felt sorry for her when she wanted to get together with Steve, but Steve didnt want her (she was brilliant as Karen's nemesis too!)

Lewis.

They should bring back Karen too.. I loved the episode on the roof!

Scarlett.
05-01-2010, 11:53 AM

You never know, there is a chance that Karen could be back by the end of the year :D

Lewis.
05-01-2010, 11:56 AM
Yey :) I think if Coronation Street were to bring back more old flames like Karen and Tracey.. they could probably see the figures go up a little bit..

Scarlett.

what do the producers actually do for the show??

Scarlett.
05-01-2010, 01:39 PM
They point the show in the direction they want it, they decide how the show should run, they decide the storylines along with writers, they pretty much run the show

For example, Kim Crowther became producer became producer and wanted to give the show more of a "film" look than what the show was when Steve Frost was producer, when Steve Frost was producer, it was very much a Northern soap, which is what I miss

SUPERBITCH Tracy Barlow will make a shock return to the cobbles.

The fiery brunette, who is currently behind bars for murdering her boyfriend Charlie Stubbs, is making a comeback after bosses agreed a deal with actress Kate Ford, 32.

Fans will get to see Tracy in prison when she becomes embroiled in a love affair with a popular Weatherfield resident.

Kate's initial scenes will all be filmed in jail but we can reveal that she will be back in Weatherfield for good later in the year sparking rumours her killer alter ego will be released early.

Bosses are keeping tight lipped about which fella will be getting up close and personal with the jail bird but her old lover Steve McDonald is already a firm favourite.

The cab boss - played by Simon Gregson, 33 - is going through a rocky patch with his new wife Becky (Katherine Kelly, 31) because she refuses to have children with him.

Their fight is set to last and could well see him fall back in the arms of his former lover.

But she could also rekindle her romance with hunky Irishman Ciaran McCarthy - played by Boyzone singer Keith Duffy, 35.

Keith is back filming in Manchester and his scenes will be screened in February.

He's back for a few months and fans could well see him team up with the troublemaker.

A show insider said: "We are absolutely thrilled that Kate is coming back.

"She was a huge favourite with fans who will be interested to see how prison has changed her.

"Will it have toughened her up even more or made her see the errors of her ways?"

Filming at the Manchester studios was brought to a grinding halt yesterday thanks to the snow.

TV chiefs were forced to call off a full day of filming because more than half the cast and crew failed to make it into work thanks to the freezing weather gripping the nation.

Coronation Street's forthcoming child disappearance plot "bears absolutely no resemblance" to the Madeleine McCann tragedy three years ago, a show source has confirmed to Digital Spy.

Earlier today, it emerged that Peter Barlow's (Chris Gascoyne) 6-year-old son Simon, played by Alex Bain, will go missing in Blackpool later this year, sparking fears that he has been snatched.

The incident will occur when Simon's grandfather George (Anthony Valentine) takes him on holiday to the seaside resort after becoming convinced that his alcoholic father Peter is an unfit parent.

However, while taking a stroll on Blackpool promenade, George and his wife Eve (Sabina Franklyn) take their eyes off Simon for a short amount of time and soon discover that he has vanished. Police are then called to investigate the matter.

A tabloid newspaper today compared the storyline to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, who vanished from a holiday apartment in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz in May 2007 while her parents dined at a nearby restaurant.

However, a Coronation Street source this morning told DS: "The upcoming Barlow story bears no resemblance whatsoever to the Madeleine McCann tragedy three years ago.

"The viewer will see Simon walk off on his own and there is a big search for him which is obviously distressing for his family - but the situation is resolved quite quickly."

At the time of the McCann incident, producers at the ITV soap took the decision to drop its baby abduction plot, which would have seen Freddie Peacock snatched from the family home by Claire and Ashley's mentally unstable friend Casey Carswell.

Following a review, show bosses rewrote and re-filmed some aspects of the story in order not to distress the McCann family. The resulting rewrite saw baby Freddie go missing following a fire at the Peacocks' and later turn up at the local park.

The Weatherfield source added: "It was the right decision three years ago not to run with the Peacock storyline because it was so similar to those events in Portugal."

Several weeks after Madeleine's disappearance, BBC soap EastEnders decided to pull its baby abduction story, opting to "substantially rewrite" and re-film the climax to the penultimate chapter of Dawn Swann and Dr May Wright's story.

The plot would have seen May run off with Dawn's baby shortly after her birth. Instead, May tried and failed to persuade Dawn to hand over the newborn before being arrested and ultimately sectioned.

Coronation Street's disgraced resident John Stape is to secure a new teaching position in a forthcoming storyline, it has been revealed.

The ex-convict, played by actor Graeme Hawley, will start working at an adult education centre as part of his plans to build a new life with wife Fiz (Jennie McAlpine).

Former school teacher John has a criminal record after serving time behind bars last year for abducting his student lover Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan).

It is thought that Fiz tries to stop her husband from pursuing the teaching post, but eventually decides not to interfere after he tells her that it could be their chance for a "fresh start".

A Weatherfield source told The Sun: "We know that John returning to teaching and the fact the college may not check him out properly will cause a lot of controversy with our viewers.

"But in true Corrie tradition John's job and whether he pursues it for long will be one of our great slow-burning storylines."

Coronation Street actor Craig Gazey has signed to stay with the ITV soap for another year, Digital Spy can exclusively reveal.

The 27-year-old - who plays Weatherfield's resident butcher, gardener and window cleaner Graeme Proctor - recently inked a new deal which keeps him with the serial until at least March 2011.

Speaking to DS about extending his contract, Gazey said: "I've just signed another year's contract, so I'm definitely here now until at least March 2011. We were discussing options for Graeme to get a family but the main thing for me was how much Graeme was unrequited over his time on the Street. I basically pleaded with them that someone has to love him eventually."

He added: "It'd seem that a lot of the viewers have a fondness to Graeme, so it'd make sense for someone to see that on the Street. We have to change the dynamics of Graeme now."

Gazey has been shortlisted in the newcomer category at this year's National Television Awards. Click here to cast your vote on the official website

Go Corrie! Our favourite telly show won Best Serial Drama (aka Best Soap) at the National Television Awards held at London's 02 arena. William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, spoke on behalf of the cast, many of whom were gathered around him on the stage to celebrate Corrie's success. William thanked everyone for voting for Corrie, praised the teamwork of the cast and crew, paid tribute to producer Kim Crowther ( who was looking very fetching in a pink frock) and said working on Corrie was like "one big happy family".

Congratulations to Corrie on winning this award - it's about time too!

Craig Gazey, who plays Graeme Proctor on Corrie, won the award for Best Newcomer at the ceremony too. Read more on that here.

Coronation Street is to receive another royal visit at the beginning of next month to tie in with the show's 50th anniversary celebrations.

The Duchess of Cornwall will call in at Manchester's Granada Studios on Thursday, February 4, where she will be accompanied by members of the Corrie hierarchy, including executive producer Kieran Roberts and producer Kim Crowther.

After walking down the cobbles, she will be presented to the soap's creator Tony Warren and key members of the cast and production teams - notably show veteran William Roache (Ken Barlow) - outside The Rover's Return.

Following a look around the Street's public house, Camilla will receive a bouquet from the cast, before heading to Stage 1 where she will watch a scene being filmed on The Rovers' interior set.

Director of ITV Studios John Whiston said: "We are very honoured to be graced by a visit from the Duchess of Cornwall. It's the perfect beginning to our 50th anniversary year."

At the end of last year, it was reported that the Queen was expected to feature in an episode during the soap's golden celebrations.

Here is the article from the other thread

http://www.onenationmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/wp-on-screen-national-television-awards-2010.jpg

National Television Award bosses have defended Coronation Street's win at Wednesday night's ceremony, denying accusations of 'bias' and insisting that the soap had a "significant gain over the other contenders" throughout voting.

The awards, held at London's O2 arena, saw the commercial broadcaster's flagship soap triumph in the 'Most Popular Serial Drama' category following a public phone vote that remained open throughout the two-and-a-half hour show.

BBC sources today expressed their displeasure at the producers' decision to include a speech by Weatherfield veteran William Roache to mark the show's 50th anniversary, prior to a three-minute promo reel showcasing its upcoming storylines. The BBC allegedly felt that both the speech and clip package influenced votes.

EastEnders, meanwhile, was afforded a 'Who Killed Archie?' camera pan across the actors who play the potential murder suspects, as well as praise from award host Dermot O'Leary over the soap's current form. Walford icon Barbara Windsor subsequently presented the 'Newcomer' trophy to Corrie's Craig Gazey. Lacey Turner also collected the 'Serial Drama Performance' going for her portrayal of Stacey Slater.

However, Digital Spy this afternoon learned that Coronation Street remained at the head of the phone vote from the start of the show, through the promo reel and until the end of the show when X Factor winner Joe McElderry announced the result.

Speaking on behalf of the National Television Awards, a spokesperson for independent adjudicators PromoVeritas told DS: "With regards to the specifics of the live phone vote, Coronation Street had a significant gain over the other contenders from the start of the voting period until the end and for every monitored period within."

They added: "We do not believe that any editorial content would have had a material impact on the live phone voting or on the final result."

However, when asked to release the percentage shares, ITV upheld its policy not to release any voting figures due to their "commercially sensitive" nature.

Sources at the show also maintained that they treated the soaps "fairly" and "impartially" throughout. They explained that each year, one public vote category remains open throughout the programme and this year was the turn of the soaps.

Meanwhile, an Ofcom spokesperson confirmed: "Ofcom has received complaints about the National TV Awards but we are not currently investigating the show."

Following the programme, hundreds of Digital Spy forum users voiced their concern, with 'Lummo' commenting that it was "blatantly unfair because of the huge preview they had of Corrie while phone lines were still open". A number of other readers noted that Emmerdale and Hollyoaks received no special treatment at all.

However, user 'norbitonite' said: "I would be very surprised if a significant proportion of voters decided to vote at the last minute because of a compilation that was run during the awards."

CORONATION Street has cast its first full-time disabled character - months after rival soap EastEnders did the same thing.

Wheelchair user Cherylee Houston, 35, starts filming next month following David Proud's arrival in Walford as Adam Best in September.

Street fans have seen disabled actors briefly appear in the soap before.

Ryan Connor's mate Phil was played by wheelchair user Richard Sargent and Emily's niece Freda was played by deaf actress Ali Briggs.

Cherylee, who suffers a degenerative tissue disorder, will star as new girl Izzy, a love interest for loafer Kirk Sutherland.

The pair meet through an internet dating service but bosses hinted it won't be love at first sight.

The actress has previously appeared in Holby City, The Bill, Little Britain and Emmerdale.

She told TV Biz: "I grew up with Coronation Street and can't wait to start on the show."

A Corrie spokesman added: "Izzy is a real firebrand who wastes no time in taking on some of the Street's feistiest females.

"However, the people she slams so savagely are usually the ones who end up liking and respecting her the most."

The Sun (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/2820762/Wheelchair-user-Cherylee-Houston-to-become-Corries-first-full-time-disabled-character.html#ixzz0dOSTCADf)

Beverley Callard has revealed things will liven up when Tracy Barlow returns to Coronation Street.

The troubled single mum, played by Kate Ford, will be back for good this spring, and Beverley Callard - who portrays sparring rival Liz McDonald - reckons sparks will fly between the two when Tracy returns to the ITV1 soap.

Asked if there might be a catfight or two she said: "Yes, I'm not telling you any more than that - but it's not boring, that's for sure."

"It's never smooth though, is it, with the women of Coronation Street?"

Bev revealed she's thrilled about Kate's comeback.

A PINT-sized actor made his big break – literally – in a dramatic soap storyline in Blackpool.

Little Alex Bain, aka Coronation Street cutie Simon Barlow, who burst on to our screens in October 2008, is currently filming his biggest scenes so far on North Pier.

ITV crews set up camp yesterday to film scenes with Simon and his grandparents George and Eve, who take the youngster on a day trip to the resort.

But the happy holiday scenes take a dramatic turn when the youngster makes a break for it and gets lost in Blackpool amid scenes of stag and hen party goers.

Naomi Sloyan, location manager for Coronation Street, said: "We often film in Blackpool when there are happy family scenes.

"Everyone in Blackpool is always so accommodating and we have a
really good relationship with the owners of the piers and Mike Chadwick, of Blackpool Tourism, is always very helpful.

"North Pier was cleared out from around 11am until late on in the evening yesterday, while we filmed scenes.

"We're restricting filming to very close to the pier as we're tight for time and this means we don't have to move about much.

"We stay in Blackpool until 3am on Friday."

A similar missing child storyline was cancelled three years ago after the Street bosses feared there were too many similarities to the tragic Madeleine McCann case.

But insiders have insisted that the previous plot, which would have seen Freddie Peacock snatched from his bedroom by family friend Casey Carswell, is not a kidnapping storyline.

When Simon's grandparents make the disturbing discovery he is missing, the pair are joined by his dad Peter, and his girlfriend Leanne Battersby, played by actors Chris Gasgoyne and Jane Danson.

The Winter Gardens I would love to visit is in Blackpool to see the building.

Actually I went to blackpool with my husband to watch a dancing competition in mid 1970s. (long time ago ,,, he he he)

When the next day we arrived there, he decided to go to casino.
Then it was a usual story for him, he lost all his money and we had to cut our holiday short and came home. Even he borrowed petrol money from me. (He never had a credit card)

We were a social dancer, but I wanted to dance at Winter Gardens.
But my husband is not well now so if we have a chance to go there, it will be just to see the beautiful ballroom.

It was a Betty's 90th Birthday yesterday. Amazing she is still working.

It is very nice to see many old characters on air, but I am concerned it might put young people off. The balance is difficult.

We can not afford to lose young audience.
