I'd answer the door if someone knocks unless it was stupid o'clock when I might think twice....but I never answer private numbers.....I respect their privacy and ignore them.

Not usually , unless like you say ... you're expecting someone.

I get suspicious by some who would be from 'charities', yet they'd go to people's houses late in the evening/night ..... sometimes even on their own .

Yeah our dog would go mental ever before someone actually reached the door to knock, not that she'd do anything being the pip squeak she is

But yeah, I'd answer the door, my house is pretty out of the way of main roads, if anyone was calling it'd most likely be a neighbour anyway (not that they would call much) my kitchen, porch and sitting room are all glass and front facing so I couldn't really hide anyway

I check through the peephole first, someone once knocked on my door and I had no clue who they were but it was the middle of the afternoon so I took the chance and it turns out I had dropped my wallet further up the street and she was returning it.
