Why have they not sent Miss Middleton packing?

She is a commoner and therefore unsuitable for the prince.

They have tried bringing in commoners before and it has been an utter disaster.

Kate should be given the boot and Prince William instructed to marry a royal from one of the European royal families.

Prince William is a royal, and as such he has no right to marry for love, but must marry a fellow royal out of duty

America doesn't "do monarchies" because the population is comprised of immigrants from all over the world, who all arrived in a fairly short 200 year time span. Strangely enough its the Americans, in particular, who are dizzy with excitement and anticipation for the royal wedding next year, and will be coming here in droves to spend their money and boost our economy - so much for them not giving a toss - in fact they are envious of our shared history, tradition and ceremonies.

That is why the abolitionists will not succeed. Ask the "anti-monarchist" New Labour lot, many of them still happily squatting in the House of Lords, who distributed honours left right and centre in return for favours.

Yes we should - it will be more than repaid in terms of hugely increased tourism and sale of souvenirs and artefacts which will boost our economy.
Furthermore, we need a national celebration to look forward to in these times of doom and gloom.

It's odd that the rest of the world is so fascinated and enthralled with our Royal Family whilst here we have the curmudgeonly anti-monarchists in our midst who don't recognise a good thing when they see it.

The Royal Family provide us with a link throughout history to the earliest inhabitants of this island, they give us a sense of continuity and cohesion as a nation, especially in hard times; they keep our traditions and ceremonies alive and they work tirelessly as ambassadors for this country.

I note New Labour themselves were not averse to availing themselves of knighthoods and seats in the House of Lords.

i saw this programme once where theres like this rumour that the royal family are lizards or something it wasnt a film it was a documentary

I reckon she's got a few years left yet and then Charles should have 10-15 years or so. Haven't heard that rumour about him not wanting to be King before, always thought he couldnt wait, although I probably think that thanks to Mock the Week
