i think it's better to keep phones in the class room. It's important to have as many cameras as possible just in case there is a problem, that way there is more evidence.

I think it's always important to keep authority figures in check.
plus if they record it, it can help them with their notes, if they missed any part of the lesson.

Teachers aren't an enemy to be monitored... Why would you miss any part of the lesson, if you were distracted by a mobile phone for instance?

The world is moving on and phone's are a new quicker way to gather information.
If all phones are on desks so the teacher can see, and the kids are using them to collect notes etc. instead of listening completely uninterested to a teacher go on and on then I think they are a great thing.

We need to keep looking at ways to improve education and phones seems the best solution. When listening to teacher or using un updated test books from the 1980s kids get bored and do not take information in, yes it needs to be the case some of the time, but using technology in class is a more efficient way of gathering information.
If phones are on silent and visible to the teacher there is no problem with them. People probably said the same when discussing brining computers and laptops into schools and they've turned out great brining in new subjects and new ways to learn, phones could do the same

My school allowed teachers to take student's phones off them over the weekend if they were caught using them, all though the rule was no phones, they were lenient on that rule, they turned a blind eye on people having phones in school, but only came down on them if they started taking the piss, like texting in class or just generally taking advantage of the situation, that's the best way to be imo

Expelled?? You'll be seeing a hell of a lot of kids without GCSEs if you did that arista..
At our school if we're seen using it's taken away from us (and sometimes given detention), and then we get it back after 1 day, then on second time after a week, then a month, it builds up.. Even then I think that's harsh because some lessons let us use them, eg. as a timer in science. |

I would find it hilarious to hear one day of a story in which a student has taken a school to court and won over an incident like this. |

but they have no right to take property tbh. To the end of the day, fine.. but the thing is most of the time people have their phones taken when they're in the canteen before school hours, like they're not even in a lesson... |

turn them off or kick them out of class....if it keeps happening 1 warning, then expel.....teachers can utilise technology at their discretion to teach the kids not the other way around , theres compuers everywhere to access information when necessary. the teachers can if they so wish allow kids to access their phones if and when they deem it beneficial to the subject being taight, otherwise and be gone
