Why do people bully others? Have you been bullied? How do you feel about it?
I myself have been bullied before because I used to be very overweight. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, constantly having abuse hurled at me everyday for 3 years until finally they got to me and I gained an eating disorder until I was 23. I will never forgive the bullies, but now look at them with pity, not anger, as they seem to be the people now that are wasters and do nothing with their lives (Which also pleases me)

Its sad but if you're going to be walked allover then you wont get anywhere in life. People need strength of character, and if someone calls you or hits you then do it back but harder
Maybe I just have a tunnel view though because I've never been bullied |

What about if over a course of years a person is tormented and given abuse by a large group of people they cannot get away from?

I stopped being bullied.
Now it's started again, mostly the whole 'You're gay, we're going to ******ing stab you after school you homo' and then in the next breath calling me a pervert for fancying a girl ![]() It's like, Make up your mind you stupid ******ing chavs. And then on the bus today I was coming home and a group of people from my school started throwing like stuff at me, Chips, Chocolate Bars, A Bottle Of Lucozade etc My other friend was there, it was so hard to keep a straight face I literally wanted to cry. And then I come home to my mum and that arguing with me about how my attitude is bad, well it's like 'Wtf do you know! You don't live in my life you don't know what goes on when I leave this house so st.fu!' Earlier in Technology too, my mate.. one of my best mates actually, who I always look out for and actually recommended counselling to because I was worried about him, He actually told a few 'hard lads' in the class that I was bullying him! So then these guys started shoving me and threatening me when I didn't say two words to my 'friend'. ******ing horrible, the worst part is the teachers SEE it going on with their very eyes and do ****** all about it. It's like last year when it happened, And I was basically going to hang myself. And what did they say 'You should of told us Patrick'. So I tell them and now it's just 'Okay well sort it'. And ****** all is done.

I find bullies total cowards, that feel the need to make others feel bad to make themselves feel better because obviously they have a lot of insecurities. It's a shame they don't realise how hurtful they can actually be, people have killed themselves for being bullied. ![]()

Been bullied my whole life. Adult bullies are not such a rare species and they mostly end up the way they are thanks to feckless parents (many of them who are bullies themselves). They also thrive in the public sector, big business, politics, the press, you name it.
Bullies don't just go away when you stand up to them. They are experts at manipulating people, gaining the upper hand in a verbal argument and establishing groups of acolytes and supporters to back them up.

It's like everyone says that but now I've realised how true it is. About 2 months back, This kid was bullying me since first year and I just couldn't take it anymore, especially when he was calling me gay and other gay slang words infront of my girlfriend, when he's the one that came out as gay a few days back, So I basically punched him and we got into a fight which lead to him splitting his head open. And since then he's been cool with me, like he hasn't opened his mouth to insult me since and he's been like just normal it's so weird how just standing up to people can change it. But I agree when it goes from 1 on 1 to someone getting a gang to bully you too, then it's a bit out of order.

9 times out of 10? is that an actual proven statistic? what about a kid who's picked on because they're small and skinny and the tough guy picks on him, how does he stand up to the bully? And are you saying that people who are not lucky enough to be as brave and confident as you are don't deserve to be protected?

I despise bullying. It is pathetic and the people who do it only do it to feel better about themselves by putting others down.
Luckily I have never had a problem with bullies, mostly because whenever the 'bully gang' started with me(at school)...I kicked the hell out of them before anything even started properly. There was only 3 of them, they went round thinking they were great, turned out they had big mouths but nothing to back it up. Probably not the best way to go about it, I'm not a violent person now...unless I have to be, but it sure as hell made my school years a lot easier. I have also been lucky enough not to come across any adult bullies either... Last edited by Vicky.; 10-11-2010 at 08:45 PM. |

I don't think I've ever been bullied. I've picked up on a few people making snide comments about my weight or whatever, but that's irrelevant to me. People continually pointing out physical flaws in others are never going to be happy with themselves; it's water off a duck's back to me.
