What about if over a course of years a person is tormented and given abuse by a large group of people they cannot get away from?

Nip it in the bud, ie when it first starts with one person, and it wont escalate

Unfortunately in the world we live in, nipping it in the bud doesn't stop it. Take instances on here for example, it still goes on even though it tries to be nipped in the bud.

I find bullies total cowards, that feel the need to make others feel bad to make themselves feel better because obviously they have a lot of insecurities.

It's a shame they don't realise how hurtful they can actually be, people have killed themselves for being bullied.

Its sad and I've got sympathy for them but its survival of the fittest

9 times out of 10 if you stand up to a bully they'll stop. Its when it moves away from being 1 on 1 that problems start

It's like everyone says that but now I've realised how true it is.

About 2 months back, This kid was bullying me since first year and I just couldn't take it anymore, especially when he was calling me gay and other gay slang words infront of my girlfriend, when he's the one that came out as gay a few days back,

So I basically punched him and we got into a fight which lead to him splitting his head open.

And since then he's been cool with me, like he hasn't opened his mouth to insult me since and he's been like just normal it's so weird how just standing up to people can change it.

But I agree when it goes from 1 on 1 to someone getting a gang to bully you too, then it's a bit out of order.

9 times out of 10? is that an actual proven statistic? what about a kid who's picked on because they're small and skinny and the tough guy picks on him, how does he stand up to the bully? And are you saying that people who are not lucky enough to be as brave and confident as you are don't deserve to be protected?

Just made up but judging by characteristics of a typical bully and if people have problems with how skinny they are then they know where the gym is

Sorry to sound blunt but its how it is. Its sad and sounds terrible but there are bigger problems in life. People grow out of it. its just part of growing up

I do understand what you're saying but you have to understand that everyone doesn't think like you do or have the same self belief and self confidence as you have

Totally meaningless cliches. This is why people need to be educated on bullying. Bullying happens, because a target of bullying cannot defend themselves and there are people who don't know any better that leap to the defense of a bully. Classic victim blaming.
